Our love of vintage fashion. We acquired a large collection of products, outgrew eBay and local sales. Found that we were good at this. Realized that being knowledgeable and personally interested in this industry gave us an advantage over other people just looking to make a quick buck without putting in the work to build something with a solid foundation.
The reason of selling this business
Family illness, moving, less time and interest in continuing. Industry-wide decline in sales. We think it will rebound in time but we don’t feel that we are properly serving the business with our current level of interest. We are still doing better than our competitors and our suppliers. We’re proud of what we’ve built and would like to see it continue in the hands of someone who is dedicated to its success.
What's involved in running this business
Orders received through Shopify site. All merchandise kept on site. Just print a shipping label, put merchandise in box, and take packages to post office daily. Maintain accurate track of inventory and replenish stock as needed. Work with social media influencers who provide worldwide promotion in exchange for products. Minimal amount of customer service via email required. Dedicate some time to promotion and creation of fresh site content, or hire someone to do it for you. Mostly we’ve gotten by with only a minimal amount of promotion. Putting in some extra effort could result in substantial growth.
Well-thought out website that is immaculately maintained and flawlessly operational. Several thousand different products in stock. We own genuine vintage deadstock eyewear that is not available anywhere else, therefore not much direct competition. Low inventory cost, high markup possible while still maintaining affordability.
