Business Story

Why this business was started

I decided to start this business initially for just short-term cash flow. I gained so much more than that and paved a path for myself in the future. I'm passionate about this niche and I think that's one of the reasons it succeeded (in my eyes) and can potentially do a lot more with a fresh new owner with a new perspective that could make this much bigger than I could.

The reason of selling this business

I decided to sell the business because I will be raising funds for a new store of mine that I've been working on for a while that I have big plans for. I wouldn't have time for college + two stores, therefore I'm selling this store.

What's involved in running this business

The store isn't too hard to run at a smaller scale. I used to have Oberlo which took a long time to fulfill orders, however I switched to DSers which has made my life so much easier when handling bulk orders. Usually, all that needs to be done on a daily basis is customer service which could be handled by a virtual assistant, fulfilling orders and marketing. I usually market through Facebook Ads and sometimes Instagram influencers, however I have more luck with Facebook Ads.

Other details about profit: Initially, when I first started this store, I was not very successful with it due to poor marketing and a poor website. After a few months, I finally designed a great look for my website using a premium theme and after a lot of failures, I learnt how to use FB ads to my advantage and profit with it. I lost the money so you don't have to with this store. In 2020, I have only launched ads once to test the product is still selling which it is. Other than that, I have paused ads and heavily descaled due to Chinese New Year and the corona virus. I talked with my supplier and they are all ready to continue working and to ship out orders whenever the store gets sales, however now that the store is for sale, I will not continue ads. The test I did was very recent, on the 21st of February to test the product again and the test went well, so there's nothing to worry about with the product!

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

My advice would be to the new owner would be to have knowledge in Facebook Ads because there's a lot of data to utilize that can be extremely profitable by creating LLAs and new creatives. I would also advise the new owner to start branding the store sooner rather than later to a new extent, e.g. custom packaging, specific niche store. This will allow the store to remain more consistent and will be a lot better in the long term.

I am able to provide help with all of this in the first week post-purchase!

    Skills to have

The new owner should have a good knowledge in Facebook Advertising, however it wouldn't be necessary as I provide a week support post-purchase and can teach the new owner everything about Facebook Ads that they should know and then they can expand their knowledge through experience and learning through other ways.

I started drop shipping in 2019 as a side-hustle, so I faced a lot of the problems that beginners face. However, I struggled a lot, I kept a log of the problems and then made sure I ticked off everything as complete/learned after doing just that. I realised how drop shipping could change my life financially and I dug deeper and eventually made it full-time.
