Why this business was started

Before this business, my husband and I had started our first dropshipping store as a side business (alongside our 9-5 jobs) that was doing just OK when we decided to try another store in a different category and thought baby/kids clothes was a great option for return customers who are consistently in need of new clothes with growing kids. The store was an instant success, so we quickly decided to abandon the first store (which was in home goods) and focus our attention on this business. It continued to have such great success that we decided to leave our 9-5 jobs only 1 month later and run this business full time.

The reason of selling this business

We now have a 10-month old baby and are planning on continuing to grow our family and as the business continues to grow and have more success, it's requiring more time and attention than we think we have the ability to give it. The dropshipping space continues to become more competitive and as such, requires better ad copy, ad creatives, product differentiation, email and social media graphics and imagery, etc. in order to compete and stay relevant and growing as a business. We strongly feel that all of these things are incredibly attainable, but require more than we currently have the ability to give. Whoever purchases our store has an incredible opportunity to make over $350,000 this upcoming holiday season.

What's involved in running this business

On a daily basis, this business involves running ad campaigns through Facebook/Instagram and Google Shopping, finding new product through AliExpress, communicating with vendors on AliExpress, uploading products and fulfilling orders through Dropified, creating newsletters through MailChimp and posting content to social media. There are apps we use in Shopify that allow parts of the business to run itself: automated email notifications after orders have shipped through AfterShip, email collection through new customer pop-ups with Wheelio, automated ordering of trending products through Power Tools, automated product recommendations through LimeSpot.

    How to grow this business

    We have never taken the angle of using social media influencers to expand the business which I think is a gigantic opportunity to organically grow the social media following and get "free" website traffic and purchases. Additionally, we have narrowed our vendor list to a specific few vendors that we have slowly been trying to narrow our business to using exclusively which would streamline things operationally, as well as directly more business to a single vendor which gives massive increased ability to negotiate better cost of goods pricing and drastically improve profit margins.

    Skills to have

    We didn't have any previous experience in e-commerce so genuinely anyone can do this with a learning attitude and an ability to research when you don't know how to do something. There is infinite assistance on the internet about Shopify, Facebook advertising and marketing.
