Why this business was started

My passion for hand crafted home goods led me to the art of candle making. In my process of learning how to create all-natural candles, I found that the “100% soy” market was quite slim— in fact, I was alarmed by the fact that many candle companies were managing to disguise themselves as “all natural” when in fact they were mixing their natural ingredients with other toxic materials. I quickly learned that unless a candle label specifies “100% soy”, it is likely mixed with parabens and other carcinogenic waxes. Knowing this information, I made it my mission to create a line of 100% soy candles that are safe for families & pets to enjoy.

I wanted to create a style of candle that has never been done before, that adds a conversation piece to any home while filling every nook & cranny with mouthwatering fragrance. The concept of using a beer can came from the revolution of the craft beer industry and my love for the many unique styles of beer. While the fragrances do not smell like actual beer, each candle recipe represents the key notes of various styles; for instance, the Chocolate Milk Stout fragrance includes notes of milk chocolate, coffee, and caramelized pralines, while the Sour Golden Ale includes notes of peach, grapefruit, and mangosteen.
 The name “Euphoric Junket”, also meaning “blissful trip”, is a tribute to the travels we take. Each candle is hand crafted in various sizes with the traveler in mind - no glass or delicate materials, easy to carry on and bring a piece of home comfort wherever one goes.

I have decided to sell Euphoric Junket because I am involved with my family’s business full-time and reached a point where I could not continue to scale without more time & resources. Euphoric Junket also led me to other creative ventures including photography, which I find myself more passionate about in this season of my life. With the proper resources in place, Euphoric Junket has massive potential to scale with both ecommerce and direct in-store sales with partners.

    How to grow this business

    Euphoric Junket is a profitable concept with $0 spent on advertising, so the opportunity for growth is endless with any marketing budget. That being said, to grow the store over the next five years, I would not only continue to grow with what already saw a return (including social media, email list building, pitching retailers, and point of sale at events), but also invest in advertising. Additionally, drop shipping would alleviate the fufillment process.

    As the business grows I would continue to push for streamlined content and outsource content creation in exchange for free product. I would also continue to pitch various retailers including boutiques, breweries, and craft beer stores. There is a huge untapped opportunity to partner with breweries to create custom candles as well.

    On the ecommerce side, I would continue to focus on building the email list via giveaways, blog posts, and paid advertising; when it comes time to promote a VIP monthly subscription, there will be a flood of people directly converting from the email campaign just like craft beer lovers who line up around the block for bottle releases.

    Skills to have

    The new owner will need to understand the process of 100% soy candle making, which is much different than creating with blended waxes (I would be happy to pass off my step-by-step process, which took almost a year of trial and error to nail down the exact method).

    He/she will also need to be able to maintain consistent branding and have an eye for a cohesive aesthetic.
