Why this business was started

I wanted to quit my 9-5 job to make a passive income. I had someone design the website for me so it was more responsive and engaging that I could personally make it. I chose the domain name and the niche. The niche is something I am interested in, so it made sense to start a website with it. The person who designed the website was given details about my niche and added products according to the theme - cute/kawaii. He also installed a number of useful apps that can help boost engagement/sales.

The reason of selling this business

Personal things have come up, meaning I am unable to spend as much time in the business as I wanted. We had an issue with 2 orders which had to be refunded also, due to logistics methods, so the bump in the road has made it worse for me to try and manage. I've also changed how many products I sell a few times, though the new owner will be able to decide themselves what they want to go for in a Cute-themed niche.

What's involved in running this business

*Expenses, money to put into the business - mainly for ads to gain visibility. *Customer Service - dealing with queries as they come in, which hasn't been too often for me. I find if I put lots of information on the website (Est delivery times and FAQs) it reduces the need for customers to ask. *Order fulfilment - I was using Oberlo, however this will become obselete soon, if not already. They suggested using Dsers. You can use any fulfilment app compatible with Shopify that you wish to find products on. *Keeping an eye on order tracking - so you can spot any potential issues before the customers become aware of them *Creating posts for the social media - again something that I didn't have time to do. I can provide an Instagram account and some templates for posts. *Email/text campaigns to further promote visibility - I was using Klaviyo, though there is Shopify Emails provided with the Basic Plan. *Time & patience - are always a must!

Other details about profit: The store probably at a loss at the moment because of the ads spend (it won't let me put in a value less than 1). However, I do believe you can tip the balance very quickly with viral product(s)! I've had 15 orders since the 19th March, with 2 currently refunded/part refunded so I've just put an average in for orders per month.

    How to grow this business

    The main thing is Marketing and viral product videos. I've already made 15 sales through FB/Insta ads, though because it's a new business it needs visibility. The store also needs good, solid suppliers. I've been trying out Aliexpress - the suppliers have been accommodating, yet the delivery methods have caused us issues.

    A williness to grow the store through various cost-effective methods. Also to to have an interest in the niche as its a very specific niche!
