I have had a passion for jewelry and accessories for years. I found leather a few years ago and realized what an amazing material it was for jewelry. I started making earrings for myself and my friends, and quickly had requests to sell. What started out as a side hustle has quickly become a full time business with second year sales over $100,000 and rising. I have prepared this business to explode in 2020 and beyond!
The reason of selling this business
While this has become a huge passion of mine, I have a full time job that I also love and I’ve realized that this brand could be even bigger in the hands of someone who has more time to devote to it. I have a built in audience and loyal customers, as well as daily new customers who become repeat customers. If I had the time I would start monthly subscription boxes, jewelry displays, and other products lines- all things my customers are requesting but I don’t have the time to provide currently.

Other details about profit:In 2019 I purposefully slowed my revenue to a manageable amount for me (due to a full time job and family). 2018 was a huge year of growth and being a one person shop became hard to manage, thus the revenue drop of 2019 for a better work/life balance.
This product has a high profit margin, and over the past two years revenue has doubled each year, until I slowed it in 2019. I also am on the low end of what I charge customers compared to other companies, so prices could be raised for an even higher profit. 2018 was a year of huge growth and I invested a lot of capital into inventory, leather, and tools to prepare for a very profitable 2019 and 2020. With the inventory I have a buyer would not have to purchase any inventory for likely the entire year, as I’ve bought product for every season of 2020 and 2021 and even planned out launches etc. I also have an Etsy shop with almost 9000 sales, which is where I started my brand in 2017 (joined Shopify in end of spring 2018). Etsy itself is a constant revenue stream and I do no advertising of it. It brings in 100 or so a week, almost $500 a week during the holiday season. The profit from Etsy alone pays all our taxes for the year and then some. I also now have wholesale (selling) accounts on Faire, FashionGo and OrangeShine. In 2020, even with Covid, I have averaged around $11,000 in wholesale sales each month. Faire profits was around $15,000 for 2019 (launched May 2019), while FashionGo launched February 2020 and OrangeShine launched March 2020.

How to grow this business
I would start a subscription box, which would be a constant steady revenue stream. I would add more exclusive designed leathers. I would sell more accessories, such as purses and other products for women. I have looked at making jewelry holders for the home and get asked a lot to sell them. In 2020 I have focused on wholesale off this website, and plan to open wholesale on Shopify in 2021. I would also look at starting to use brand reps, reach out to bloggers and influencers, currently I don’t utilize them. I also don’t use paid advertising on any social media or other channels so I would see what I could do to advertise. I would also get modeled shots of all products, as well as partner with clothing boutiques to gain more exposure.
Skills to have
Basic computer knowledge. I don’t have any design background and most designs I made myself, or with help from my graphic design sister. Someone with design experience not required.
