Why this business was started

This was one of my first businesses. A lot of work was put into it. I was always passionate about learning and reading. I wanted the brand to embody that. Our goal was to empower people to read and have a clothing brand that represented who they were. Our motto was "Read More. Learn More. Live Better."

The reason of selling this business

I had to make a tough decision. An opportunity came up that really doesn't come that often. However, I needed to be fully invested in my new business venture. Though I feel I made the right decision, Mindfuel Thinking is still something I am really fond and proud of.

What's involved in running this business

-Creating content on the social media platforms. -Writing articles of books to give back to the customers/community. -Creating new designs and products to stay ahead of the competition -Set up an effective marketing plan. -Engage with every comment you get on social media. (It works).

There might be a few things that I missed, but I'm open to discussing.

General description

E-commerce business with a focus on the reading/book niche.

My business was inspired from how reading changed my life. How I went from a student attending a top 20 school in the country to working at Trader Joe's and to being unemployed. It's been a journey and I enjoyed every minute of it.

We are including the site, all social media accounts, our customer purchase data (email & physical address), and our add to cart potential customers email list. In total 9100 (5500 buyers & 3,600 Add to cart potential clients)

We will also include names of known competitors on FB/Instagram.

Though my new passion will not be in this niche, I am open to signing a non-competitive agreement.

Why should someone buy this store?

If you're passionate about reading & books this is definitely for you. It really won't seem like work at all.

We feel this has the potential to not just be a store, but a brand. Many focus on the short sale, but a brand is long-term.

If left as is, you will get steady income, but the potential is enormous with some work.

How can the future owner improve the business?

  1. Create a marketing strategy that penetrates the demographics of 35 and below. Majority of our buyers are 35 and above.

  2. If you're a Pinterest ninja, there is crazy potential there. It's not easy to admit this but, we barely focus on it because we had success in other platforms but we organically get 6000+ monthly views on Pinterest (and sporadic sales) without consistently posting. We probably post twice every month.

  3. Keep doubling down on Instagram influencers. We have just started collaborating with Instagram influencers. There are roughly 25 with us covering countries such as Australia, Romania, Brazil, United States, and more. All of our Influencer deals are willing to create the post/stories shoutout in exchange for a free product.

  4. We haven't really created a successful email marketing system. Definitely big upside here. Unfortunately our focus was more on capturing initial sale, but you could definitely increase the life customer value.

  5. We haven't touched Google Adwords/SEO. We did do a quick search on keywords and it may be a competitive market. We believe our competitors use mostly Google Adwords. However, there is potential with long tail key words that they are not using.

  6. We have this idea that you can implement using Snapchat and filters. The focus on here is more on branding (long-term) as oppose to a quick buck. We used it in our other business but this can definitely work here. We are willing to discuss this further.

  7. We haven't seen many sales from Twitter. We mostly used it for branding and get pretty great engagement.

  8. We haven't created a brand on YouTube, so if you are passionate about this niche, you can take advantage here. It's more so for branding. Again, long term.

  9. You can expand to direct old school marketing. Out of our 5700 emails, we have over 90% of their physical addresses too.

What work have you put into the store?

There was a lot of initial front-loading work in the beginning. Worked on it constantly the first few months. However, lately we have been putting roughly 5-6 hrs a week.

Most of our time was answering emails, fulfilling orders, social media, and researching. The thing here is the app Oberlo can make this process even shorter. We have tried to keep expenses at a bare minimum.

Other details about profit: Profit margins were extremely good. However, in the last year, they have dipped a bit due to some life and business changes. My focus has been on another project that has recently grew on me. It's taking a lot of my time and resources. I have decreased my ad spent which is why you see a decrease in sales. Will be cutting ads soon. My new endeavors require my full undivided attention and resources. It's another reason why I'm willing to sell this business. We would love to sell this business to someone who has a passion for reading.
