I grew this business entirely from my phone/laptop at home.
I started this business in 2018 with zero initial investment because I wanted to learn how to sell products online. I chose to sell sunglasses because they have high margins, are a small product and are somewhat easy to market on social media.
After starting, I quickly fell in love with the process of building a brand around a product and finding unique ways to market it. The main marketing avenue has been social media, and I have worked a lot on building a community / engaged audience of over 26000 people. I had to be creative, as sunglasses are a saturated product.
Starting out I was drop shipping, however eventually built the business to the point where I could hold inventory (glasses/branded packaging) and ship everything out from home.
I then started to focus more on product quality, fast shipping and customer service. I continue to improve every aspect of the business and constantly think of ways to provide value to the the customer.
I recently expanded the product range to blue light glasses which were a massive success during Covid-19 lockdowns. There is definitely room for more expansion into other accessories in the fashion niche.
The business has generated over $100,000 in revenue, and has the potential to do a lot more. Paid advertisements and content creation across social platforms is what is required to scale to the next level.

What work have you put into the store?
This store was my main focus for the period of two years. I created the website and made countless updates to optimise it for conversions and customer experience. I have also spent many hours on product development and finding the right manufacturers for the brand. This included branded packaging. The majority of my time has been spent driving traffic from social media and managing paid influencer promotions. Learning how to run successful facebook ads was also something i have spent lots of time on.
