Why this business was started

I needed an additional income stream which I could fit around my day job and would not take too much of my time. The shop exceeded my expections and helped me out big time when I was going through redundancy and my "freelance consultant" period in life.

The reason of selling this business

My career progressed so first of all I do not have enough time to take the business to the next level and sadly my new employer is not too keen on me having a side project.

What's involved in running this business

Replying to customer's emails (loads of queries could be addressed by development of FAQ section), and processing high value orders (orders below 200 Euro are processed automatically). The stock is automatically updated every 15 min with new stock imported daily.

Other details about profit: The business is seasonal although it is thriving during Corona pandemic. Corporate orders and invoiced sells are not included in Shopify calculations. As well the shop used to do very well on eBay (not present currently due to lack of time to keep the listings updated). I have loads of interest from corporate customers, recently I had a returning customer making purchase for £7968.00 invoiced and paid directly to the business account so not showing in the shopify stats.

    The shop has massive potential and can be developed in the following ways: - to continue as a neash boutique type of shop with personal approach, specially to improve social media presence - to take advantage of the new automated fulfillment system and over 10K products which needs to be dispalyed and marketed in more adequate way - to reinstate ebay presence and take advantage of google/social media shopping - promote electric cargo bike to businesses and explor eligibility for green grants (I have a returning corporate customer accessing funding for green businesses) The shop would be beneficial for the following type of buyer: - a family seeking for addional income stream - with large proprtion of stock dedicated to family and kids cycling, the store would be a perfect family business - an entrepreneur with (or access to) great SEO and marketing skills who know how to take advantage of google adds and social media camaigns - an existing brick and mortal type of shop to secure a steady income with very low overheads and endless opportunities to cross promote the businesses

    Skills to have

    Practicaly everything can be learnt "on the job". I had no experience in ecommerce what so ever when I started. Of course it would be beneficial to have prior knowledge of social media campaigns, SEO and google adds but it is not essencial. In regard to the specific bicycle knowledge, your suppiers offer assistance and help whenever you need it!
