Business Story

Why this business was started

I was inspired to start this business because of my passion for gaming. It started in late 2016 as a hobby and has since developed into an extremely lucrative business. I saw a huge gap in the market space for these products and found a simple, but unknown solution. It was always fun to grow a community and interact with followers and customers.

The reason of selling this business

I am looking to sell my business because I no longer have time to run it. Although it only requires a few hours of work per day, my schedule is packed and will become even more busy in the coming months. I am currently a full-time student and it is no longer practical for me to operate my business and attend school at the same time.

What's involved in running this business

Running this business involves order fulfillment, social media management, operating and analyzing advertising, and inventory and supplies. For the past 3 years I was able to run this business single-handedly, so the day to day operations are very simple. In the morning I usually respond to all social media messages and emails; this takes around 30 minutes. In the afternoon I respond to messages again and also advertise the affiliate program; this takes around an hour. At night, I fulfill orders and schedule media posts for the next day; this takes 2-3 hours depending on the day.

Other details about profit: Revenues average $6,250/mo this year, but averaged $9,500/mo in 2018. This is because I have slowed down on social media and have put less time into the business. The Shopify average monthly revenues are inaccurate because it counted two months with $0 revenue while I was setting up the store. I used to run the store on Tictail and have records from 2018-early 2019 of revenue from there. Contact me if you want more info on that.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

If I ended up pursuing this for the next five years, I would increase advertisement and grow my product base. Social media growth comes naturally due to the already large following counts, so I would be sure to grow my mailing list through new followers. I believe I would end up hiring an employee, or even bring on a partner a year or two down the road.

    Skills to have

As long as you can handle messaging people on social media and fulfilling orders, running this business should be very easy. It is important to stay consistent on the social medias and maintain quality customer support and interaction.

    Why use Exchange?

Exchange is the largest and fastest-growing marketplace for Shopify e-commerce stores

    Verified listing data

The revenue and traffic data that you see on each listing is pulled directly from its Shopify account. This means that the data has been verified. Exchange reviews and monitors listings for thorough and accurate information.

    Secure messaging platform

You will be able to communicate with sellers via a secure messaging platform. After you log in and request information from a listing, sellers are notified and have the ability to respond. When you are ready, you can make an offer.

    Encrypted payment capture

Exchange and Escrow.com have partnered together to provide you with safe transactions that have bank encryption, making sure that payment is securely captured. Escrow.com ensures that its users pass verification checks before transactions can proceed.

Take time to inspect the business

Once you submit payment to Escrow.com and the payment has been secured, the funds are held until you confirm that all assets received are as negotiated. You can use the inspection period to ask the seller any extra questions about the business.

    Safe store transfer

When the transaction is finalized, the dedicated migration team at Exchange will begin the process of making you the new owner of the store. Buyers and sellers will be notified via an email from the Exchange team once store transfers have been completed.

    Post-purchase 24/7 Shopify support

Once you log into your Shopify account for the first time and choose a subscription plan, Shopify Support Gurus are available 24/7 to help you with the settings of the store.
