Why this business was started

I read about Shopify a few years ago and wanted to test the platform. We located a manufacturer in China who we continue to work very closely with (as will you).

My wife loves jewelry and wanted me to start something for her. It took off very quickly so I left my role as a Marketing VP and pursued this store.

I didn't look back.

The reason of selling this business

Because I am launching two new ventures that have taken 2 years in planning and A LOT of money setting up so I simply don't have time with this wonderful brand anymore. It's time to move on.

What's involved in running this business

Digital marketing expertise is a must. Managing ad spend and customer expectations. We ship directly from the USA to customers in the USA & Canada and dropship to customers outside of the USA & Canada (orders under $50) from our own manufacturer in China.

What does your business do?

Launched in December 2016, our brand sells jewelry and accessories all over the world.

We have an email list of ~700k and 210,000 paying customers! We also have social followings in the hundreds of thousands and manage this and all content creation in-house.

We have over $7.5m in sales with an overall gross profit of 31%.

How does your business make money?

We sell women's jewelry and accessories predominantly in North America and also all over the world!

80% of our current customer base is in the US 10% from Canada 10% from the rest of the world (mostly UK, Australia, Europe)

Describe your purchasing and order fulfilment process:

We have one manufacturer who makes all our collections. We fulfill all US & Canada orders from our facility in Columbus, Ohio.

All orders under $50 are drop-shipped to the rest of the world (non-US & CAN) direct from our manufacturer!

90% of our orders are from North America.

China but we have an excellent manufacturer and use high-quality base metals (see Facebook customer feedback and TrustPilot screenshots below).

Facebook, Google, & Snapchat

How much do you spend on each channel?

Currently only approximately $1k per day across all channels because it's pretty much only me doing everything and I am spending most of my time on other ventures.

Which channel performs the best?

Facebook drives the large majority of traffic for sure but Google has also done extremely well historically. We are also active on Etsy and have over 1100 orders on this platform (we only went live in October 2020 on Etsy), which we will also happily transfer ownership of to the buyer.

What is your ROAS (return on ad spend)?

Facebook - $2.3m spend (2.1 ROAS). Google - $450k spend (5 ROAS)

How profitable are you?

31% GP lifetime of this business so it's been very profitable and is in a great position for someone else to take over!

How has the business been performing over the past 12 months?

As best as it can with two people (my wife and I) doing it all and our time being spread super thin whilst concentrating on smart tech products that we're building as well as other ventures. I have maintained GP to a strong and consistent level throughout 2020 and prior.

2 (the good lady and myself)!

Could this business be run by one person, or are multiple people needed?

If the wife and I can do it all by ourselves (ads, inventory management, packing orders, ordering, customer service, etc, plus all our other commitments, then anyone can)! You need to be driven for sure, but you can do it and you can grow it!

Why are you selling this business?

I have too many other extremely exciting projects that we have invested an awful lot of time and money on. I simply can't commit to growing our brand and have really been in this position for a number of months now, hence the slight drop in revenue. We have built a wonderful foundation and a great brand with over $7.5m in sales and over 210k paying customers and an email list of over ~1m and it's time to allow new owners to take the reigns and grow the brand.
