Business Story

Why this business was started

I love flowers and working for myself, then I identified a niche for wild and sustainable florals matched with unique gift ideas and just went for it - have never looked back and am stoked with how it has flourished. I also wanted to make consumers aware of sustainable floristry and the impact using certain materials has on our health and environment.

The reason of selling this business

I am selling to focus on family and other opportunities.

General description

Hello friends! I am selling my beloved online florist business. From a need for a raw yet stunning lifestyle full of the ebbs & flows of nature was born my online flower shop. A boutique in harmony with nature, always in lust for adventure with some quaint country style nestled in. Rustic/nordic vibe with professional product photos with a wilderness edge.

Why should someone buy this store?

You will see it is not your typical florist - it's much more whimsical and personalised - it is a flower brand and not just a production chain line or relay florist. It's a fantastic side business or way to expand your current florist business. All you need to do is source the flowers and make the flower bouquets! It's fun, practical and gets you doing things and meeting new people.

Please get in touch to have a look at the website, specs, product pics and for more information. I'm friendly/easygoing and I'm looking forward to seeing/helping you succeed.

How can the future owner improve the business?

Expand delivery range and do more advertising. You could also expand gift range and shipping methods.

What work have you put into the store?

I have done a lot of online advertising. I have taken all the photos and created all the interesting descriptions and blog posts as well as website navigation. I have developed a local loyal customer base and also international customers through my website. Apart from Australian customers, I get orders from USA, UK, NZ and more (specs available).

Valentine’s Day and Mothers Day is triple profit, with the months leading up to Christmas (very busy period) also much higher than average turnover. Formal season is huge for corsages and I do a lot of weddings with enquiries year-round if you are a florist. If you don’t have floristry experience I can train you and this can be negotiated in the sale. I currently run it by myself and it can definitely be owner-operated even if you are not a florist.

Consistent growth (triple turnover) since I set up shop, with massive potential for more - e.g. weddings

Other details about profit: The drop in January is because I put my shop on pause for a month or so and went on holidays. It's also very seasonal with the location I am in. Valentines Day and Mother's Day are huge. I tripled last years earnings and it was only my second Valentine's with the online shop.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

I would definitely expand my delivery range area. If you know how, or have the logistics to do so you could expand your profit tenfold or more. It's currently based in Australia with very limited delivery area of about a 20km radius. This is because I mostly do the deliveries myself and haven't looked into professional couriers much.

I would also put more priority in online advertising like Google Ads, Facebook and Instagram. At the same time I would also grow my wedding flowers business online. This can generate even more income.

    Skills to have

This business would ideally suit a florist but anyone with a love of flowers and plants can run it successfully. All you need is a small studio space (or even a bench in your house) to put together the flower bouquets.
