Why this business was started

I decided to start the business because I had a passion for e-Commerce that I found at the age of 18. I had opened 3 stores before this, but this was my first legit business that did very well for it's first year. I felt this desire to just be able to produce numbers in a business.

The reason of selling this business

As of recently, I have been busy with my project at my internship and talking to other job recruiters from tech companies to branch out. I am also a full time student in college. This a business that requires the work of someone who has more time than I do.

I set this store up a year ago and I learned a lot in the process of getting it up in running. A product on my store has historically been very popular and has proven to be a high performing item, yet because of a lack of quality control there have been numerous complaints of the case falling apart within 3 or so months of usage. If I could remedy the issues with my supplier and continue to work with them through a reliable connection, setting up more extensive quality control to ensure that the cases are durable either through my current manufacturer or a new one would greatly increase customer satisfaction and sales. This is shown in how the largest impact that the supply and quality issues have had on the store has been on the Facebook ad score. Currently, the store's ad score is at a 1.9, and this score could be increased effectively if the issues I highlighted are mediated. Because of the higher cost of advertisement that Facebook imposes on businesses with ad scores below a 2, a lot of possible profit has been missed because of these issues with customer satisfaction. I have no doubt in the capability of this store to reach far higher numbers than those I have listed: I know this to be possible because of a brief period of time where we had a score of 2.4 and broke 104.2k sales in a month. It is critical good communication is maintained with my current manufacturing agent as he has assured me quality and price can keep increasing as you keep getting more inventory from a warehouse he (manufacturing agent) has very close ties with.

I have recently began working for a major technology company and have decided to put my best efforts towards developing my own career goals. I am also still a student in college, so I need to focus on finishing my studies strong so that I can be successful in my career in the coming years. I have also begun to look into app development and have decided to apply what I have been learning in school and attempt to create my own application for mobile devices.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

    READ CAREFULLY:

    -Prioritize the improvement of the ad score.

    Facebook gives you a score from 0-5 on your page which in return affects how your ads deliver. Anything below a 1, Facebook will ban your account. Having a score of 1-2 means your ads will still deliver but cost more since your account is considered 'Penalized'. Anything above a 2 Facebook is fond of and your ads will deliver optimally. The score on the page is currently at a 1.9. It is sitting at that score due to miscommunication with my manufacturing agent which caused a delay in order fulfillment efficiency which negatively impacted the ad account score. After this, I made sure to speak closely with my manufacturing agent to assure this does not happen again moving forward. I would suggest maintaining a close relationship with him in order to avoid any sort of miscommunication.

    UPDATE:

    Score is back up now and no longer a problem meaning ads are delivery optimally now. Supplier relationship is a lot better and orders are being sent out faster.

    -Having Experience with Facebook ads

    In 1 year I generated 424K in sales. The first 2-3 months were very slow in terms of growth because of lack of expertise considering this was my 1st a serious store. I have no doubt that should someone with good expertise and willing to attack the issues I mentioned above, can easily scale this store past 500k+ in a year and see very profitable returns. I have a product on my store that is very popular, an iPhone case to be specific. This product is loved by consumers as it is unique and gives the sense of luxury. I am first store to also sell this product, a lot of other imitators are not attempting to sell the same product and they steal a lot of ad copies which makes me know that this store is closely watched and has enviable results. These imitators have also negatively impacted the ad score, as I have been confused with lower quality stores selling the same product.

    If these issues which are hard but not impossible to solve are fixed, then again I have no doubt that the higher level of quality and consumer trust within my store will be more than enough to differentiate from these imitators and allow this store to reach it's potential.

    I know this to be true as I saw this pattern of greater customer service satisfaction due to my efforts to ensure a higher quality control and better shipping. It was only when the business grew too fast that the ad score took a hit since the order processing model had to be improved.

    (Just to throw this in, the domain is currently valued right over $2000)

    Skills to have

    -Facebook Ads Know how to scale, retarget, test, and make lookalike audiences. Facebook ads are PIVOTAL to your sales, they will more than likely be responsible for engagement, brand recognition, and 80-85% of your sales.

    -Google Ads: Some SEO has already been set up by me so that when the product is searched by its name that my store will come up at the very top. Google will be responsible for 1-15% of your sales. It is mostly automated for you so this will make your life easier.

    -Email Marketing: I have an email list of 14-15k subscribers, I automated a lot of the things, I have a very profitable abandoned cart sequence that emails customers who never bought but had reached the checkout page. It is important to make catchy email sequences here and there to drive more sales.

    -Ad Creatives There is an art to making attractive/high performing ads. A lot of that is on the texts of the ads. Do not be generic, be creative and charismatic with the words you use, makes a world of a difference trust me on that.

    -IG Posts Post on IG, engage with customers, be funny and responsive.
