Why this business was started
After seeing the copious amounts of waste in the apparel industry, I wanted to work a different way and create a brand that put people, planet and purpose first. With all the chaos in the production and selling of fashion, I wanted to create a place where every decision is filtered through one lens: “Is the decision/garment/process creating chaos for the planet and the people in it, or is it creating calm?” Forutunately, I have built a brand that demonstrates you can make beautiful apparel domestically, profitably, and sustainably.

I have the opportunity to work on a sustainability project with enormous, global impact. The project will demand an incredible amount of time and energy so it is appropriate that I hand the brand to someone who is truly interested in scaling a sustainable, luxury business.

The business requires product design and development, asset creation (photography and graphic design), general ecommerce site management, order fulfillment, customer service and digital marketing management. All processes, including photography, have been managed by freelance creatives, but the right digital agency could manage the email and marketing piece.

How to grow this business
We have identified an untapped market: well-made, luxury, apparel that is sustainably made, reasonably priced, ethically sourced, and appeals to a key demographic: women, of all sizes, ages 35-60. With the growing interest and customer demand for transparency, sustainability and inclusivity in fashion, there is huge upside potential. With basically no digital ad spend, we have created a proven brand that is primed for exponential growth. It is ready for someone to throw gas on the fire. Our large email list, a large social following, YoY growth of 120%, AOV of $295, 85%+ sell through rate at regular price, and pages upon pages of 5 star reviews were all achieved on an average monthly digital ad spend of just $800. With a ROAS of 7-15X, there is massive upside potential with Facebook, Instagram, Google, and Pinterest Ads. With wholesale distribution at some of the world's finest luxury stores (online and offline) the collection has major credibility as well as an additional revenue stream outside of DTC. In addition to increasing the digital ad spend, a loyalty program and an affiliate program would drive sales over the next 5 years. Also, expanding the inventory assortment in both depth and breadth would capitalize on the trusted brand name and drive business.
Skills to have
The ideal buyer would someone with existing knowledge of the fashion/product development space, or, an existing apparel organization looking to layer a sustainable, inclusive brand into its portfolio. With certifications from leading sustainability organizations, DTC and wholesale global distribution, domestic production, inclusive sizing, and a brand voice and customer base that is well established, the brand is primed for growth. Economies of scale can easily be reached by capitalizing on the infrastructure of an existing ecomm/digital marketing team and warehouse logistics. The business will need someone with a design and product development background to oversee garment production. A sustainability-driven creative director with great design and art direction skills will help maintain the brand’s aesthetic and integrity. It will also require an ecommerce director to oversee the site itself and manage asset creation (photography), shipping/logisitics, and, either a freelance team or agency to manage all marketing efforts including email, digital marketing and social media.
