Why this business was started

We were looking to take a small store to the next level of operations to generate some part time income. We settled on starting with a drop-shipping business due to the low barriers of entry and had plans to start a brand, complete with manufacturing our own products and expanding sales channels. If done well, it could become a full time venture for us. We evaluated several businesses with different models. Ultimately, we settled on Gearzii due to its high cash flow, time in the market and the start to effective branding, beginning with the name.

The reason of selling this business

We have run the business for several months and in that time have given the store a new look and logo (branding), focused the products (branding), expanded the Facebook following (audience), engaged in email marketing (branding) and expanded marketing channels. Also during that time, we have had family and career changes that simply require more of our focus than anticipated. So it simply came down to prioritization. We believe in Gearzii and it's great potential in the outdoor sporting goods space. For us it is simple, our focus needs to be put into higher priority efforts.

    How to grow this business

    1. Expand advertising channels. We started with Google. Other opps are text links, pinterest, multiple social channels, online markets
    2. Website Blog - engage the current base better with articles, how-to's, etc. We have a writer that is knowledgeable and willing (and affordable)
    3. Expand sales channels (etsy, amazon, ebay, etc)
    4. Gearzii branded products - several manufacturers (US and China) available to use the base of the dropship products to make Gearzii branded products for sale via the Gearzii channels as well as other mass channels (ali express, other dropshipping houses, etc)

    Skills to have

    Most important skills are marketing and the ability to search for best product sources. Be comfortable communicating on the phone and via email. Customer service is critical - you and the customer want the same outcome.
