Why this business was started

Purely for adventure, i was a senior manager for one of the worlds largest shipping company. Basically i had no idea about self employement and i wanted to test myself. Changed my career completely and taken a very hard task, after all i am glad i did it! Being your own boss is worth it, also i would rather be selling plysical goods such as furniture and decor than selling services which is much harder!

The reason of selling this business

In 2017 i have been offered a fantastic position from an overseas furniture manufacturer. Now i am their UK MD with a small share in the business. First i thought i could run 2 businesses together however the new job took over my life slowly but surely. At the moment we supply some of the largest retailers in the UK including Wayfair, we import more than 35-40 containers a month. During this tempo i have no time to run MFD but more importantly my business partners would not be happy me spending my time on any other business! Therefore i have decided to sell my business to focus on just one thing.

What's involved in running this business

For the 90% of the items are sold, stock is updated automatically, orders are sent and fulfilled automatically by my other company. For the rest 10% of the item you need to update the stock daily or automate them. Send customers tracking numbers and answer the phone for the 0800 number you will choose. 90% of the products over (1500 items) i sell on MFD are drop shipped by my main company, it is on autopilot. MFD Orders and Stock for the 90% of the products are automated. You do not have to do a thing. Once the order comes to MFD my main company will pick up the order and dispatch all you will have to do is send the payment. These products are best sellers at Wayfair, The Range and maybe Next PLC next but not sold at anywhere else. We do not drop ship for smaller companies or companies who do not have a customer support team as we do not have time to deal with every client. I will sign a contract to supply you with these products for at least 2-3 years with really good prices leaving you at least 30% Profit and still cheaper than .......... :)

My main job is to follow up manufacturing process and organise logistics and follow up Wayfair and other big clients operations and i do not have time to look after MFD. Also my partners are not happy about me spending time on MFD as it is not my main job.

Update SEO, Update product description as these were all done years a go in a hurry. Join other marketplaces such as ebay, amazon, etsy... The store uses picture review software and there are a lot of reviews which are synchronised with Facebook page also. Perhaps you could join TrustPilot or another alternative. Contact more dropshippers, add more items. Work on GOOGLE and alternative advertising, find the perfect keywords. Sychronize your store with all marketplaces....

Or if you want to take it to another level and you want to physicaly store couple of pallets of items( even start in your garage) Do all above also ; Choose some hero items import small on pallets. The platform is ready to sell, if you are going to keep a stock showcase your stocked items in the front page and focus on them to grow quickly.
