Why this business was started

We saw a huge market opportunity and were aggressively testing new products on a new advertising platform. This is a product and industry that one of our business partners has previously had success in, so we thought it prudent to test.

The reason of selling this business

We have five other stores that are performing extremely well right now and we don't have time to maintain this store and one other that we started recently. We know it has huge potential, it's just not to the point that makes sense for us to dedicate our time to grow right now so rather than just shutting down we figured someone else could capitalize on it. From the start this has been a back burner business because it takes so much time for us to focus on scaling 5 other stores to six figures a month.

We are choosing to sell this business rather than one of our other stores as we have leverage with suppliers and private-labeling in other niches and need to devote our efforts and that of our team towards scaling those. We opted not to hire out management of this business as our partners do not have the bandwidth to oversee an employee tasked with managing this business.

What's involved in running this business

Ordering from suppliers (dropshipping, through a private agent) and running advertising campaigns. You could add more products and build this into a large beauty niche store, but right now it has a few variants of a winning product and we would probably just focus on scaling with that product.

Daily operations include scaling/optimizing paid ads, managing customer service via email (which can be outsourced to a VA), and managing fulfillment which involves 1 message every 2-3 days that is sent to a private dropshipping agent who will send an invoice that needs to be paid. The actual fulfillment of orders both in Shopify and physically speaking is the responsibility of the private agent.

Outside of launching new products and adding new plugins to optimize store conversions, the daily website maintenance is non-existent. The store has been meticulously engineered for conversions and does not require consistent change or content management.

All of the work stated above was being handled by our management team as well as a couple of contractors who would handle miscellaneous tasks.

We will be handling any chargebacks or refund requests that come in post transfer of this business and it will not be the responsibility of the new business owner.

Please note that the employee expense is $10 as we could not list that as $0. The partners utilized free interns to complete minor tasks and completed the rest of the build/maintenance personally.

Other details about profit: Profit has been pretty low in the beginning because we were testing product pages, different ads, products photos, etc. but now that it is optimized (past 1-2 weeks) it's doing around $50-$100 profit per day only running ads on one platform.

    How to grow this business

    Over the next five years I would focus on using social media advertising platforms (Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok) to grow the store as well as continuing to market to the email list and past customers. We barely started tapping into these social media markets so there is definitely a huge opportunity to scale ads on all of these platforms.

    Please note that social media accounts have not been included in this sale as we do not currently leverage organic social as means of marketing or customer communication. These can be started easily and our recommendation would be to utilize Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok (which offers high growth potential and has proven reciprocity with FB owned platforms).

    Skills to have

    Specialized marketing knowledge is not required to run this business as an agency can be hired to manage paid advertising.

    If launching new products is not of interest then specialized copywriting and website building knowledge will not be required either.

    You will be required to interface with customers to ensure satisfaction but as this business stands currently, one would simply need to push paid traffic, manage customers, and send money to a personal agent as the extent of the work necessary to drive sales.
