Why this business was started

Started as a side hustle to my main job as I had some free time during the second wave of COVID-19.

The reason of selling this business

My initial goal was to high $10K in monthly revenue which we quickly exceeded in beginning of 2021. With the rapid growth though there has been an increased demand on my time. As this store has always been a second priority and remains outside my area of interest, it suits another owner who has the bandwidth and desire to grow to it's full potential. Operations have been paused since early May.

What's involved in running this business

Time spent on the business depends on the goals of the new owner. To simply maintain and keep running, the time investment would be just a few hours a week (4-5). Additional hours invested are for growth related activities.

Other details about profit: Average profit and number of orders per month are extended to reflect the entire period per Exchange Market's guidelines. In FY21, profit was $4,500 a month with ~1,000 orders a month. In FY20, revenue was $1,200 with 32 sales and ~$5K in start up costs (no profit). We have not explored listing products on alternative websites, this remains another potential growth opportunity for future owners.

    How to grow this business

    The list is rather extensive and more will be provided to serious bidders but at a high level these are the lowest hanging fruit opportunities: - Continue testing and adding new designs for our existing line of shower curtains - Introduce bundling offerings by offering a number of highly requested items to drive higher retention and increased AOV - Launch email & SMS marketing campaigns - Initiate paid marketing strategies on other platforms such as Google, Pinterest, Tik Tok etc... - Continue investing in SEO to drive a higher percentage of organic traffic - Commission structured influencer campaigns

    Skills to have

    I opened the shop with a background in finance but had no formal operating experience and was completely new to website design, Facebook Ads Manager, Google Analytics etc..

    If one already has these skill sets then the company is well positioned for near-term growth. If the new owner isn't familiar with these areas it may take a couple weeks to understand the growth drivers before ramping operations back up.
