Why this business was started
Alongside my partner, we wanted to generate some additional income. My partner's sister-in-law had a good friend that was make additional income from selling Jewellery via the Tik Tok platform and consequently we started doing research in the 'alternative' jewellery market, especially rings.
Revenue in the Jewellery segment amounts to £3,237m in 2021. The market is expected to grow annually by 3.47% (CAGR 2021-2025).
By 2021, 76% of sales in the Jewellery segment will be attributable to Non-Luxury goods.
We have noticed a huge up-surge in the Zirconia jewellery market amongst teens and young adults wanting to wear alternatives to diamond and gold, yet maintaining a chic look and feel.
To provide an exceptional experience to the customers we decided not to dropship, but rather sourced and branded the product and provide local delivery here in the UK (make the delivery faster).
Alongside the 6 ring designs, we provide the following:
1) Branded boxes with Amanii Jewellery logo 2) Branding pouches with Amanii Jewellery logo 3) Polythene bag 4) Thank you card 5) Black envelope.
The reason of selling this business
I have several ecommerce stores via Shopify and Amazon that require my attention as they grow.
My partner has a successful restaurants in the north of UK and his wife just gave birth to their new born child. We are unfortunately limited to the time we can contribute to the business.
What's involved in running this business
We do not dropship and hold the inventory in stock here within the UK. Although there is scope to dropship globally. The is stock here in the UK that would be given to the buyer of the site.
Rings are sourced from China, stock locally (in the house) and posted via Royal Mail. Therefore the daily activities included:
1) Recruit influencers via social media and micro manage the stories and posts they share, etc. 2) Marketing: Facebook, Tik Tok Ads. 3) Maintain the Amazon listing (there is 1). This includes Amazon Ads, sales and shipping to customers. 4) Sourcing from suppliers in China. 5) Shipping to customer 6) Customer support via email and Instagram DM 7) Videographer and graphics for rings.

How to grow this business
Since minimal focus has been given to this site with paid advertising, there is huge opportunity to focus on Facebook Ads and Tik Tok Ads. We saw decent uplift in sales at the early stage from influencers on Instagram and believe that this can be huge driving factor for sales in the long term.
Skills to have
Basic knowledge about Shopify store builds, bonus skills include basic HTML & CSS. An overview of how Facebook and Tik Tok Ads work, although you can hire a freelancer or agency.
A basic understand of how to engage with influencers on social networks i.e. Instagram.
The remaining skills are liaising with supplier(s) in China to source the products.
