Why this business was started
I started this business because I always hated the 9-5 and really wanted to be a business owner. I started to research and find the right product by following a new trend product on social media and I was looking for additional income over the long term. While doing product research, I found that a full face snorkel mask was really good and seemed to be an innovative product. Also, I love outdoor activities so I chose this niche as a starting point. Moreover, I have always had an interest in e-commerce. With years of experience in the industry in a web agency with Designer / Developer background. So I decided to build a website to sell snorkel gear and expanded to sell high-quality underwater iPhone cases such as ProShot case, Catalyst and LifeProof. I kept building it and wanted to see how far I could push myself with this new project.
The reason of selling this business
My partner and I both have full time jobs and just haven't been able to put the focus in that the business deserves. I’m unable to commit my time as much as I have in the past to running the business and I’m focusing on another business with a business partner and I do not have enough time to take the business to the next level.
At this stage, we are searching for an enthusiastic buyer that understands the outdoor activities including snorkelling, diving, waterproof phone cases and other water sport equipment for outdoor activities. The brand is successful in Australia and has proven. There is a real opportunity for someone to take to the next level. The business has grown to a point where we have ongoing sales with very little effort in marketing. This is an exciting business to run as it allows you to be creative with how you run it. For instance, new products can be added to the store related to outdoor activities.
What's involved in running this business
We use FB and Google ads to drive traffic to our website and generate leads and sales. Right now, we have several in demand products. We have products in house and some products are sent directly to customers from a few great supplier partners through their inventory system. I would say our website is a hybrid online store selling mixed products from our own shelves and drop shipping some products from local suppliers based in Sydney. Placing orders daily, fulfilling orders/updating tracking info & pack and sending them out on time. Responding to customer queries by answering emails from customers promptly and professionally. Resolving any issues with shipping/damage occasionally.

SuppliersOur store is a hybrid shop, we are selling our own products and also doing a drop shipping for the big brands product eg Catalyst and LifeProof. We have a good relationship with those suppliers also they have sales manager to look after our account if there is any problem related to products or orders. We ensure that there will be someone on the supplier side will look into it.
How to grow this business
The future owner can improve this business by continuing to work with our influencers, build more following, creating more content and consistently posting on social media. We have worked with lots of social media influencers via TRIBE. One more thing is to invest a lot into marketing, concentrating on Facebook, Instagram ads & google ads. to drive traffic to the website.
Skills to have
The key skills needed are social media marketing, Google AdWords, content creation and copywriting with the most important skill being customer service. Ensuring that your customers are getting the best service possible is the key to having a great brand. This includes replying to customers quickly and replacing products if they turned up damaged or lost. Also email marketing, we haven't done it properly to utilise our email list as I don't have much experience in email marketing.
