Why this business was started
I have decided to start this business back in 2015, when I had my son and needed a creative outlet. This is the time when soy candles started to become very popular and in high demand. To this day, more and more people are switching to my natural alternative to soy candles, as they learn more about how toxic other paraffin candles are. That is the reason I started the business, to have the option to burn natural candles in my own home and to provide them to my customers.
The reason of selling this business
This business has done so well and the reason I've decided to sell it is because it has done so well, that I can't keep up with the demand. I had a new baby last year and between that and pandemic, I had to let go of my employees that did production and just had a family member help me with production and packaging orders. With a new baby, I wanted to focus on my family first and start a new business that has more flexible working schedule.
What's involved in running this business
Main part of this business is candle production. I have created the best process where I would pre-make all of the candles to have in stock and as I would get orders in, I package and ship them out. Private label candle orders would have to be made at the time they are paid for. I gave a week for production time. I also, contacted potential wholesale customers via email and Instagram, which has been very effective and my goal was always to have at least 5-10 new accounts every month. I also scheduled out my social media posts in Planoly. I will share more tips that worked to receive more orders, during the consultation time after the sale.

How to grow this business
I would keep my focus on the wholesale option and keep reaching out to potential wholesale customers, like I have in the past, that have brick and mortar locations or online boutiques/stores. The main thing that worked effectively is reaching out via email and offering free samples of all of the candle scents, with a promotional wholesale brochure. Currently have about 200 wholesale accounts, which I will provide as part of the sale. To grow quicker, hiring help for candle production is ideal. I haven't done much advertising as well, so if you advertise, there's a potential of more revenue as well.
Skills to have
Yes. You will need to either make the candles yourself or outsource the manufacturing part to another candle maker. The candle making is not difficult and I would share the "how to" steps during the 2 weeks of consulting, after the sale. I will also have the option to add in my commercial size wax melter and any other supplies as part of the sale, that are needed to make candles, with all of the candle scent recipes.
