I had the interest in getting engaged with the Internet business since long time and on May 2018 I decided to start the business venture. The first plan was to sell handcrafted products but my partner had to quit because of some reasons. I didn’t want to stop this business venture so I decided to think of different type of products. I can across Shopify that was recommended by a friend of mine. I subscribed and started developing my e-commerce store where I decided to have almost 8 collections that are 1) Charm and Fashion - Women, 2) Men Style - Men, 3) iChild - Children, 4) Kitchenware - Kitchen, 5) iSports - Sports, 6) Unique Items - products not within the other categories, 7) Smart Tech - Electronics, 8) iDecor - Decorative items.
I added some application of product sources like Oberlo, Dropwow and AliExpress from which I imported almost 400 products; 200 of them are already published. I added some other applications that add some notifications on the website like “Customer have also viewed these products”. Then I connected my website with almost 6 social media platforms that are Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Pinterest, Twitter, Google Plus and Addword. On top, I subscribed to Hootsuite to manage most of the social media posting. Add to this I subscribed to Zoha for email marketing. Currently, I have almost 2,000 email addresses as database for email marketing. The social media pages of the Aspiring Shop are part of the sale.
I am drop shipping and have no physical inventory. Mostly it is done through Oberlo. The shipment is done by the supplier. I considered the drop shipping a nice model to start with where no assets are required.
I managed to get likes and reviews on the social media but there were no sales because I had only one payment method which is PayPal. The reason is that I don’t have a registered company for which I could have added the payment by debit or credit card. Meanwhile, I was in the process of adding the cash on delivery payment (COD) but I had to hold this process because I decided to sell the website.
I think the minimum budget for marketing wouldn’t be less than US $100. I finally decided to sell the website because I got engaged in training events as an instructor for professional management courses which is getting me more busy and would like to capitalize on this training business. For the past few weeks I was not that much in operation for the website and I am getting more and more busy in my training events. That is why I had to decide to go for selling the website because I couldn’t even keep it as a side business.
I have done a lot of learning endeavors where I got courses in digital marketing, social media marketing, entrepreneurship, SEO and marketing strategy. As well, I learned a lot better with the help of the Shopify support documents. They an answer to every question that come up to your mind or any problem you encounter.
I am proud that I got engaged with this website which I wouldn’t give it up unless I need to focus on what I have in hand now. I wish good luck to whomever will have this website. It is nicely organized and well supported by Shopify.
