Why this business was started

I began this business in late 2016 with the aim of using it to fund my adventures across Europe. Not only was it a great motivator/excuse to get outdoors, camping, fishing and hiking. It's been a great way to learn more about Shopify, the camping and hiking industry and all the bits and pieces that go with it. I've really enjoyed the product testing across England, Wales and Holland. We did start to have a decent level of success with a few consecutive high volume months (July 2018 transacted over £4700 before returns) but due to other responsibilities we haven't been able to focus on the store as much as I'd like.

The reason of selling this business

I've now relocated to Australia. The business is still generating traffic and sales, but I'm looking to start new ventures in the right timezone for me to manage customer enquiries. I have other business ventures making more money for less effort and will focus on those. My business partner is not interested in taking up the slack so... Now we're offering up the business for a more suitable owner.

What's involved in running this business

I've been pretty lazy since relocating but typically, I have the app on my phone and email on my phone/tablet/laptop. In busy periods we may take 3-4 orders a day which require 5 minutes of picking/packing/fulfilling per order. Otherwise, I place occasional bulk orders to suppliers dependent on stock levels. When we were first getting the business moving I was writing a blog article reviewing products every month or so, emails were sent out at roughly the same intervals. We store our stock on site and have all of our supplier SKUs hosted in Shopify so placing an order with the supplier is as simple as exporting a product sheet from Shopify - highlighting which items we'd like in however large a quantity and forwarding it to our supplier. Now that we've established exactly which products to sell the next owner of the business is in a position to spend a lot more on the "right products" knowing to a fairly high level of confidence that they'll sell.
