The beauty industry is known to be resistant to economic downturns - even faring well during the Great Recession of 2008. Though consumers tend to be more price conscious during those times, they do not stop spending. So in today’s environment of rising per capita incomes the beauty business is booming.
Manuka Beauty products are at home adaptations of professional and expensive spa equipment. Our customers do not have the time or money to go out and spend on these types of costly professional treatments. For the same price as one visit to the esthetician the consumer can have their own device to use in their own home again and again. ∆Marketing and Business Development∆ •Marketing: Facebook, Instagram and Google shopping are currently running. We co manage them with another marketing team. We have also begun too reach out to influencers and content creators about product photos/videos and posting them to their audiences. Business Development (0 hrs); currently no time is spent on business development. Although there are interesting options to explore with affiliates and ambassadors. Our Instagram page DMs have been full of parties that are interested in symbiotic relationships with Manuka Beauty. ∆Customers∆ -Customer Profile and Segmentation- •Our target market is 18 to 40 year old female with an interest for beauty, and skin care. 43% of our customers are from the US, 18% from Europe, 4% from Australia and 5% from Canada. Customer Acquisition •Customer have been acquired primarily via Facebook and Instagram campaigns which represents 67% of total traffic. •While direct/search traffic driven by SEO represents 33% of the total traffic. •Our CAC (customer acquisition cost) is approximately $4 per customer for new customers. ∆Customer Retention∆ •Customer are retained by advertising new products via retargeting on facebook/Instagram. The mailing list currently has 15,000 active subscribers with an open rate of 12% Returning customer rate is 2.3% •Email marketing has been relatively untapped although emails have been captured and verified for activity since the store launched.
Our favorite part about shopify is the creation process. Watching the store go from $0-$1000 per day is the most exciting part. Once the store is constantly hitting numbers and needs little attention we feel like our job is done. We are both highly creative people and feel that in the initial creative building, growing and launch phase we are the happiest. This is also our 5th store currently running and we have begun to feel overwhelmed with the up keep of so many ads, products, customers, employees etc. We love this store but feel that we must continue on. We will continue to build new shops and divert more attention the others were working on.
Currently we have 2 international employees that deal with customer support and order fulfillment. occasionally they will have a question and they contact us via skype. We have an instagram account that posts products on its feed multiple times per day generating sales. We have an employee woking on our ads for facebook. If you know how to run facebook ads this will be no issue. There is a very well seasoned pixel that has been running since launch All products have already been assessed and relationships have been made with suppliers. Other than ads there is little to no maintenance because of our employees. ∆Operations∆ All store upkeep operations are handled by our employees. Their pay grade in total is about $800 USD per month and they are paid via the [REDACTED] automated payroll. ∆Administration∆ Customer support and Management. Mary (our employee), manages our other fulfillment employee and responds to all customer service communication. She is located in the Philippines. When she was first hired, our email inbox was a disaster. She came in and immediately did an excellent job of organizing it. Her written english is wonderful as well. Most email inquiries are about shipment information. We have always taken the time to formulate high quality and personalized answers/solutions.

If you average our revenue from the last 4 months (excluding our first month) our average monthly revenue is $32,000 During our first month of business (May 2018) we only had organic traffic from our Instagram generating sales.
