Why this business was started

I was looking for supplemental income and there was a need for the initial product. I have since expended the product line, especially with people being home and needing men's grooming at home. We started with a styling powder that a lot of people have enjoyed and have expanded to beard balms and other barbering tools. We chose to launch the store with the styling powder solely because it was different than almost any other product we saw on the market. If you desire to go back to only one product, it is historically a popular seller.

I have several other ventures I am working on and need to focus more on those, with the addition to taking care of my child. I need to sell this one to help grow my other ventures and my kid.

What's involved in running this business

Instagram, google, and facebook ads drive a majority of the traffic. I set the budget at $100 per month reaching 500,000. You can increase or decrease either of those. Our most recent instagram post generated 500+ in traffic and sale. The only other actions on the business would be submitting orders to the supplier. The supplier ships directly to the customer, you just have to supply the list of most recent orders and they will handle the rest. I have handle customer service directly, but I only needed to twice, as the supplier is very reliable, as is the product. You will receive a lot of marketing graphics, photos, etc., so you will be set on images for a while. We have a long email list, which you will receive, and send emails once a month. This helps us retain customers and drive traffic to the site.

    How to grow this business

    Continued social media marketing. We have done several Facebook ads and promotions on Instagram. We only have about 5 instagram posts and they get a lot of interaction and we have a large following, considering the business launched 5 months ago. Our numbers are reflective of these actions and continuing with this process will be successful. We have not yet tried Google Ads, so that may broaden your reach significantly.

    Skills to have

    Simple Facebook and Instagram ads. We have not tried Google, but if you have any knowledge there, that may be beneficial.
