General description

Established in Birmingham UK as a small bricks and morter store in 2000. We wanted to offer a diverse range of hard to find alternative brands and products from across the world. Beadesaurus ventured into ecommerce in 2007 - with the website growing each year as our online presence grew.

We have used many different platforms for our website over the past 10+ years - and finally settled on using Shopify to move the website forward for 2018.

Beadesaurus specialises in alternative clothing and accessories for Men, Women and Children. Our Childrens clothing range has become a big part of the store and is always a popular year round seller.

We always aim to provide excellent customer service, easy website usability and a strong and varied selection of products for our regular customers. To date we have a mailing list of over 9000 contacts plus a social media following across various platforms of 13000. Our Facebook page itself has 10000 fans - who are always responsive to new products and arrivals in the store.

Included in the sale is the custom domain [REDACTED] social media accounts, current customers list and our current inventory valued at approx £5000

Beadesaurus always held inventory so that customers would get the best service possible. If the product is marked as in stock in the store - our customers would know that it is available and on hand. If they were to place an order - it would ship the next day. We chose this route instead of dropshipping - but many of our current suppliers would be open to the option of using drop shipping with the store.

The majority of our web sales are driven by organic traffic, social media campaigns and newsletter campaigns. Having been online for over 10 years our organic traffic is excellent for the brands and products that we sell.

We have many repeat customers - some of which have been buying from our original bricks and mortar store when we first opened in 2000. Focusing solely on ecommerce since 2014 - many of our repeat customers have been buying products from us for over 18 years!

After 18 years of running the business we decided that it was time to move on and try something new. So we took the choice to move to Shopify - complete the store build and then look to list the store on Shopify's market place.

How can the future owner improve the business?

There are many apps and services within Shopify that a future owner would be able to use to automate many of the day to day task needed to run the store.

Using integrations with Facebook, Instgram and many of the free apps would help to grow traffic and push customers towards the store. The main reason we wanted to move across to the Shopify platform was to have more control of social media integrations - Shopify can do this seamlessly. With most of the apps needed being free to install and use.

Adding more brands and products to the store would help to keep our regular customers excited by the offering available in store and grow the organic traffic to reach future regular customers online.

We have already moved across our current customer list, inventory, images and product tags and descriptions to the shopify store.

It is currently using a free theme.
