Business Story

Why this business was started

After being laid off from my job I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do next. I can't afford to retire unfortunately and I have a daughter that wants to go to college. I decided that I wanted to research owning my own online business and so many people are shopping online these days, for everything! I decided on a coffee store because it will always be in demand. It is not a fleeting trend, it is not just a seasonal item and it is loved by all walks of life. People who love coffee will always buy it. It also seemed like a good started store for me to learn from so I jumped in! :) Visit the Beanstalk Brew link to view the store.

The reason of selling this business

I have about 90% of the store built. It includes merchandise as well which is a nice addition for shoppers to buy as well. It just needs the shipping and legals added which is easy to do. I did not get this store off the ground because I was offered another online store that I just could not pass up and it is thriving which is great! This store can do the same for someone that has a passion for coffee.

What's involved in running this business

This is a drop shipping business so the coffee and merchandise will ship directly from the suppliers to the customer. You will need to process the orders to send to the suppliers which is very simple and quick. You will need to provide excellent customer support for any issues or questions that arise from the buyer. Updating the website with new content and products from the suppliers are a must. Social media content and running advertising campaigns is also a must in order to be successful.

Seller‘s Advice

How to grow this business

I did not do any marketing of this store before I put it up for sale so creative social media marketing is a must. This store should be easy to scale over time as the coffee niche will always be in demand. I would also suggest researching and contacting influencers to help market this delicious coffee as well.

Skills to have

Social media marketing skills are a must in any online business. However this store is considered a starter store so it will be a good fit for a beginner to learn and implement marketing as well as experienced social media people.

Why use Exchange?

Exchange is the largest and fastest-growing marketplace for Shopify e-commerce stores

Verified listing data

The revenue and traffic data that you see on each listing is pulled directly from its Shopify account. This means that the data has been verified. Exchange reviews and monitors listings for thorough and accurate information.

Secure messaging platform

You will be able to communicate with sellers via a secure messaging platform. After you log in and request information from a listing, sellers are notified and have the ability to respond. When you are ready, you can make an offer.

Encrypted payment capture

Exchange and Escrow.com have partnered together to provide you with safe transactions that have bank encryption, making sure that payment is securely captured. Escrow.com ensures that its users pass verification checks before transactions can proceed.

Take time to inspect the business

Once you submit payment to Escrow.com and the payment has been secured, the funds are held until you confirm that all assets received are as negotiated. You can use the inspection period to ask the seller any extra questions about the business.

Safe store transfer

When the transaction is finalized, the dedicated migration team at Exchange will begin the process of making you the new owner of the store. Buyers and sellers will be notified via an email from the Exchange team once store transfers have been completed.

Post-purchase 24/7 Shopify support

Once you log into your Shopify account for the first time and choose a subscription plan, Shopify Support Gurus are available 24/7 to help you with the settings of the store.
