• This store has been profitable from the beginning. It has had some losing months due to not having enough products available for sale and not expanding it quickly enough, but overall it is profitable. Over the total lifetime of the store the net profit margin is 12%

• Bear in mind that while running this store I lived in Asia so the timezone difference is huge and I did all customer service myself. This means I have neglected it many times due to being asleep and then calling back potential customers the next evening. If you have a customer service VA ready to go, or are in the US time zone yourself, running this store will prove to be more successful.


• Adding a ton more products: The main reason why the store isn’t as profitable as it could be is that it simply needs more products added, which I don't have the time for because of my other business.

• Add Suppliers: I have a list of 30+ potential suppliers with all contact information.

• Social Media: After getting a sale from Pinterest with very little effort, I consulted with a coach and we determined that Pinterest works quite well in this niche. We’ve obtained buyable pin status and had begun building our Pinterest account. Much more can be done to gain significant organic and paid traffic with the channel. Also, the instagram account literally has 0 posts, which is a bit stupid of myself to not have some content there since this niche is definitely heavy on the female customers. Building that out has a lot of potential as well.

• Increase Customer Lifetime Value: There is a lot of room for improving the Upsells & Downsells as well as email marketing for this store. In the plans were things such as; creating bundles (of logically related products), email marketing campaigns promoting related products to past customers, more effective list building, creating free + shipping funnels with low-priced items, etc…

• Manage Google PLAs: CPC's are pretty good and kept deliberately low, but other than adding negative keywords there hasn't been paid much attention to the shopping campaigns. There should also be a text ad campaign started by the buyer to increase traffic and sales. But right now I am simply not willing to experiment and raise my ad budget since my other business is pretty capital intensive. I have an average of $255 ad spend over the last 12 months, that is Google shopping ads and Facebook retargeting combined.

• Hire a VA: This is not directly related to expanding the store but if you are willing to hire an assistant to do the low-level repetitive tasks, then you will free up your time for higher level tasks which will bring in more revenue – such as business strategy and marketing.

Other details about profit: Exchange calculates our average monthly revenue without the draft orders we made in the beginning where we often handled payment through PayPal to avoid having to pay Shopify transaction fees since I am not a US citizen and wasn't able to get Shopify payments for the first 9 months. I can provide screenshots from the Paypal payments received. I've uploaded them here already but since this is a private listing you aren't able to see them. Actual average revenue is $4,726.23 over the total life-time of the store and $6,461.59 over the last 12 months. The total revenue number is different because shopify sees those paypal payments as not verifiable, so instead of $107,832 it is actually $122,882.09.
