In 2015/16 the market was needing new fashionable contemporary labels. BELO addressed a sexier yet functional aesthetic that many legacy brands were not bringing to market. The label paired premium fabrication and fit with modern and beautiful silhouettes that resonnated with many women.

The reason of selling this business

I made a few tactical errors that didn't put the brand in a great position to succeed going forward. Around that time, my partner and I had creative differences and we ended our partnership. I wanted to move into the menswear space and that is where the balance of my time and resources are going.

    How to grow this business

    BELO has a loyal customer base that is looking for new product and great engagement. It boasts 14k IG followers that were grown organically, and credibility as it was sold on Revolve.com (they nearly bought the brand 2 years ago). I bootstrapped the brand, and had very little money to advertise, and thus I was never able to get the traction needed to get things humming.

    I made mistakes in focusing on wholesale and IG influencer campaigns with the wrong girls. With some advertising budget, this brand could make a resurrection and do very well.

    I'd do it, but I am a man and my passion is in my menswear label at this time.

    Skills to have

    Marketing, and fundraising. With a budget, influential friends or both, this brand already has the hard part done. Anyone looking to add active as a category could take this brand and turn it into a cult favorite.
