Business Story

Why this business was started

In 2020 the industry I work in was hit hard by Covid Lockdown and there was concerns that I might lose my job. I decided to start a store to give me something I might be able to move to if I lost my job. During lockdown I had plenty of time to develop site and set things up. I am quite techy minded, so enjoyed the challenge of developing the site, trying and testing it, different apps and themes and getting a good working site that has all its back end working well.

The reason of selling this business

Good news, my job is safe and I don't have time now to commit to the store. I cant commit time to keep promoting store.

What's involved in running this business

Social Media is great way to keep presence and build customer base. Get yourself some good pros on Fiverr that you can use to help with more technical issues. The store is up and running so needs some, but little maintenance. You will need to add and update products from time to time. When orders come in you will need to place orders with supplier to ship direct to customer, either through Eprolo or AliExpress. Keep customers updated with what is happening. Carry out Marketing, I would suggest online is best place, using Facebook, Instagram etc. Get yourself an influencer if you can, this could help push your store out there. Keep your Instagram and Facebook pages up to date and keep that online presence developing. I use Eprolo to import products, either directly or via AliExpress. you can use them to source and manage products and supply chain, or just to import all info. The store has over 300 products already selected and imported, with pricing and descriptions. The store has been optimised and developed over some time and is ready to take on.

Other details about profit: I haven't spent time getting sales, I haven't been trying to market. I have had some through customers coming through the social media and few ads i have tried out. I wanted to make sure site was set up and running well. I spent the last year setting things up and developing things. The sales i have had are genuine, not test and have come from global buyers, I did a few ads on Facebook and Instagram as part of my setting up and tests and these have come from there. When I placed ads they got a good response.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

Develop marketing, using Facebook and Instagram adverts seems to give good results. Now shop is built and been optimised, might need some more SEO work done to move it up search rankings. I used good professionals on Fiverr to help get things done. I have a second substore in Bicycle-bits, you can see it as a tab in the Menu. This could be seperated out and ran as its own store, then you can promote it seperately and give it presence and own marketing. I have 2 domains for bicycle-bits and 2 for fitness-bits, all four are in the sale.

    Skills to have

If you are good at developing presence online through Social Media would help.
