Why this business was started

I started this business to create an additional source of passive income. I identified an opportunity in the pet market and created a brand to take advantage of opportunity.

What makes us different? Our best selling product is a private label product (our logo is printed on the product), this has helped us achieve a highly branded feel even though it is a dropshipping store. Normally if you want to sell private label products you have to take the risk of ordering inventory up front but because of our relationship with the supplier he lets us order and dropship the products one by one with no upfront risk.

The business started last August and scaled up to over $12,000 in revenue in the month of December. I could of easily kept scaling but I had to slow down advertising in January because of Chinese new year. Chinese new year was extended because of the virus so I stopped advertising. Now that factories have reopened in china you have the opportunity to pick up where I left off.

The reason of selling this business

The business is priced for quick sale because I spotted a new opportunity in a niche I am passionate about and I need quick capital to get started. Shopify provided a $16,000 valuation; a fair price considering the businesses’s profits and large customer base. I don't have the time to search for the perfect offer so I have decided to sell it for much less than Shopify’s recommendation to ensure a fast transaction.

    This depends on how much time you want to invest in to the business.

    You could choose to keep running everything as it is, run some simple marketing campaigns and remarket to existing customers. This would require very little work and could make you an extra couple thousand dollars a month.

    The other option would be to expand the product offering, continue scaling and work on growing the brand. This would of course take more time but there’s a lot of money to be made.

    Skills to have

    Having the ability to connect and relate with pet owners (especially dog owners) will be useful.

    Although a fully set up Facebook ad account with purchase data is included you should have a basic understanding about Facebook ads. You could just turn the campaign’s that I was running back on if you want to keep it simple.
