Business Story
Why this business was started
[PRIVATE INFO] was born out of a deep love for design and a passion for rescue animals. After 17-plus years in the design industry and just as much time rescuing dogs, I wanted to find a way to combine my love for design, social good and animals into one project. [PRIVATE INFO] also serves as an extension of our agency, DesignGood Studio. Our namesake: When I adopted Arrow, a dog from a local rescue organization, she gave me the idea for what would become a line of one-of-a-kind handmade leather goods that helps abused animals. Arrow had a rough start – she was severely injured, had a disfigured face and required a good deal of reconstructive surgery. Our product: Being a native Texan and having spent time traveling the world I realized that the cowboy boot was recognized, loved and appreciated everywhere. The ornate patterns, detail and the care with which cowboy boots are made have always been a point of inspiration for me and the boots turned out to be the missing element that brought the collection to life. Today, [PRIVATE INFO] is a line of high quality leather accessories for the socially conscious design lover. We hand make our dog collars, wallets, money clips and clutches in Austin, Texas, using the leather of reclaimed cowboy boots. That means that no two pieces are ever alike
The reason of selling this business
I founded and own a very successful design agency, which is my first passion and now requires my full attention. I still very much love [PRIVATE INFO] but unfortunately don't have the time to dedicate 100% of my efforts to it. Trade shows have been a very successful medium (along with our website) for getting our name out there and selling the product and I just don't have the availability and time to maintain any of these sales avenues. I'd love to see the business continue to thrive with an entrepreneur who as passionate about animals (especially dogs) as I am
What's involved in running this business
This business is ready to go - inventory has been created and produced. Running this business will require managing website sales and local inventory, order fulfillment, managing ads through Facebook, scheduling posts with Instagram influencers, and creating marketing campaigns to send out to our subscribers. Also, attending trades shows in the area has been a very successful means for selling product, building our email marketing lists and getting our name out there in general.
Upside is that there is plenty of inventory so the production piece of creating/making the product is done, a strong brand identity has been developed with a target audience identified, designs for future products are ready and a variety of marketing collateral has been designed and printed, including tags, brochures, displays, signage, packaging. All creative, materials, product, and assets will be handed over with this business.
