Why this business was started
The original founder (who sold to me in January, 2020) was an amatuer photographer, spotting a gap in the market to provide a curated experience. This niche proved very valuable and sales were strong. It is also a simple business to run, so made sense at the time. Unfortunately, now, with no time - it just doesn't make sense.
The reason of selling this business
Evidenced by the historical performance data, this business has massive potential. The original owners divested after their other businesses overtook this in scale, and I never really “ran” the business since taking over, so Jan<>Apr 2020 metrics need to be discounted (ie; I’ve spent <2h since taking ownership).
Prepared to make a loss for a quick sale and business onto a good home.
What's involved in running this business
Business is very systematized. We have spreadsheets for each product, customer service templates for easy response and every aspect has been meticulously systematized making it very easy to operate this store daily.
We use Zendesk for all customer relations and have a solid SOP in place for the most common questions and inquiries.
We have several paid traffic campaigns setup to attract cold buyers, convert those buyers and increase our AOV with upsells. We also have several retargeting campaigns setup to re-engage lost sales and bring back repeat buyers.

How to grow this business
Several ways: 1. Website CRO: Basic facelift to website. 2. Social Mediate + email marketing campaign 3. Paid Spend optimization: Reboot retargeting program. 4. Content optimizations: video and new creatives would be the majority of our spend. the only reason dipped is because we couldn't find a reliable video person to mix up our creatives
The opportunities for growth are massive in this business, and one of the reasons I originally purchased it was due to the strong unit economics. Unfortunately, with almost no free time, I don’t have an opportunity to take advantage of all the low hanging fruit.
Also we have 30k social media subscribers that can be easily leveraged.
Skills to have
Basic admin + digital marketing skills (ie; using Mailchimp for email marketing). I would also consider outsourcing the digital marketing to a cheap third-party to really fast track the growth of the business.
Using someone from UpWork to handle paid and organic social would help to minimize time managing, but also to push results aggressively.
An understanding of Shopify will help to streamline the fulfillment of orders and push the site would be helpful.
