My wife and I started Citizen Threads back in 2015 as an American heritage / hometown pride brand. Etsy was the first marketplace where we sold our t-shirt designs, but we quickly found the need to branch out and sell directly through our own online store.
Our business model is centered around made-to-order apparel through a third-party fulfillment partner, Printful. Every retail order is drop-shipped using their service.
We have done several wholesale orders over the past two-three years to a variety of different retailers around the country. All of these orders were fulfilled using a local screen printer in Kansas City.
Citizen Threads has several social media accounts that are included in the sale of the website. We primarily market through Facebook and Instagram.
Our current email marketing partner is Klaviyo, which we switched-to earlier this year. Previously, we were using Mailchimp. We have around 300 email subscribers today.
We're selling the business because we recently welcomed our second child in May and we no longer have the time required to keep Citizen Threads running the way it needs to be run on a day-to-day basis.
We offer unique designs that appeal to a variety of different customers. The fulfillment model has been nice, because we haven't had to maintain any inventory on our end, so it's mostly a turnkey operation.
The biggest opportunities for this business are in outbound marketing - specifically getting the email program to a point where it is more automated and the promotional emails are sent to customers on a more regular basis to increase engagement and repeat purchases.
It's impossible to quantify the hours of work we've poured into creating new designs and updating the website with new product information.

Why buy a business on Exchange
The revenue and traffic data that you see on each listing is pulled directly from its Shopify account. This means that the data has been verified. Exchange reviews and monitors listings for thorough and accurate information.
You will be able to communicate with sellers via a secure messaging platform. After you log in and request information from a listing, sellers are notified and have the ability to respond. When you are ready, you can make an offer.
Exchange and Escrow.com have partnered together to provide you with safe transactions that have bank encryption, making sure that payment is securely captured. Escrow.com ensures that its users pass verification checks before transactions can proceed.
Once you submit payment to Escrow.com and the payment has been secured, the funds are held until you confirm that all assets received are as negotiated. You can use the inspection period to ask the seller any extra questions about the business.
When the transaction is finalized, the dedicated migration team at Exchange will begin the process of making you the new owner of the store. Buyers and sellers will be notified via an email from the Exchange team once store transfers have been completed.
Once you log into your Shopify account for the first time and choose a subscription plan, Shopify Support Gurus are available 24/7 to help you with the settings of the store.
