The store was started as a way of learning ecommerce and building out a shopify business. The niche was chosen as there was no other sites in this niche in Australia with a wide variety of different brands available. With Australia being such a large country and having trades people spread across regional areas, this site has become very handy for them to make purchases and compare different brands in one place.

The reason of selling this business

I feel I have taken the business as far as I can whilst only working on it part-time. I still work full-time and feel its time to move on. There is so many growth opportunities for the right person to grow this store. A new owner could get more suppliers and expand google and facebook advertising and start competing with the three large brick and mortar businesses in the space in Australia before they get online.

What's involved in running this business

As a store owner you will be responsible for the following day to day activites. - sending orders to suppliers and paying up front via credit card or direct deposit- suppliers send orders direct to customers using there own freight accounts. This saves me time, however you could organise your own freight if preferred. - updating fulfulment information from suppliers for each order. - checking google ads, analytics and facebook ads - sending out 2 email campaigns a week - responding to customer enquiries, phone calls or message bank messages

Most orders are approx $500 in value with anywhere from 0 to 6 orders a day depending on time of year, Each order takes approx 2 -3 mins to send off.

General description

This store is a dropshipping business in the HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) industry. It utilises top quality local suppliers to fulfill all orders. All orders are sent direct to my customers with my branding that is supplied by me to my suppliers.

I have 9 quality suppliers with approx 450 products listed. The store is also linked to ebay Australia.

I have custom email sequences setup and in place using omnisend app for all welcome emails, order confirmation and abandoned cart. I currently have 900 subscribers. I also use pushowl for browser popups and have 2378 subscribers for this app.

I currently use the product reveiws app and have approx 100 reviews with the vast majority being 4-5 star. I have one 2 star and two 1 star reviews, and these were both product issues only which were resolved by suppliers under warranty.

The site gets very little phone or email enquiries as vast majority of customers are tradespeople and they know what they want and how to use already, very minimal customer service is required. I also get very few returns, and the returns I do get all my suppliers have been extremely helpful and generally organise everything direct with my customer.

Customer acquisition is largely organic, google ads and facebook ads.

This store is really starting to get traction in the HVAC-R niche. I have sold products to small businesses up to large multi national business and government organisations such are Mercure Hotels, Royal Flying Doctor Service and the Australian Navy.

    I would focus on creating more google ads campaigns and getting much more focused in this area.

    Facebook ads would be a worth investing into for growth.

    Marketing in industry magazines would also be worthwhile to help accelerate growth.

    Skills to have

    This site is in the HVAC/R Tool niche. Almost all of my customers are a tradesperson or a business owner. They genrally know what they are after and this site has very little customer required. The occasional email or phone call. A basic knowledge of the best selling tools would be advantageous to learn. All this information is in the product descriptions on the site and most customers are just looking to verify information. Also my suppliers are extremely helpful and if I cannot answer they are generally happy to call my customer on my behalf to explain and detailed questions.
