I was very annoyed that study books were always so expensive while you only use them for one course. Second-hand books are typcally still 80% of new price. Most students therefore (illegaly) download PDFs of the books and learn from that, or only use course slides. However, looking at a PC screen for a long time gives you bad eyes. That is why I now have glasses. Thus, I did a survey among 300 University of Technology Eindhoven students and 80% would wawnt to use cheap study books to rent if that was available.

I am almost finished with my studies and got a full-time job. This job will approximately take 60-80 hours, thus I cannot really do anything besides it. In addition, I would like to focus 100% on my new job to make it a very big succes.

All typical things for running a webshop, such as fulfilling orders, running advertising campaigns (online & offline), reaching out to customers & potential partners, customer support, site improvements, and social media. Besides, I also created some blogs to have more engagements on the side.

My business plan was as follows: I entered the University of Eindhoven as beachhead market. I wanted to reach a market size of 15-20% here before I would copy-paste my business model to the next university/city. The concept is non-location bound which makes it scalable. The market size can be reached fairly quickly by partnering up with key players in the market (for universities these are student affairs/student desk, university teams, green offices, study associations).

My previous plan just came of the ground. I had a deal with the Go Green Office to hold events every quarter with them inj the ground floor of the main building. I saw that these kind of events created a lot of traction.

I would suggest to focus on partnerships with key players from the start. It definetly helps you to build presence in the student lives!

However, the business/site can also be used for other purposes fairly quickly.

You should have a business sense and entrepreneurial spirit, just like all other businesses. If you want to go for students as target market, then it is nice if you are also located in that city because it makes it easier to understand your market & partnering up with key players. I did the design of almost everthing myself. So have a sense of designing is good to have, otherwise it could cost you a fair bit.
