Business Story

Why this business was started

I decided to start this business because I saw other companies selling hip hop jewelry and I understood how popular it stood in culture with many athletes, artists, celebrities, etc. wearing it. I saw a target market and took advantage of it. I also liked the fact that creatively hip hop jewelry is very fun to get content of as well as collaborate with well know artists, athletes, etc.

The reason of selling this business

I have decided to sell my business because I have made enough money by now to jump into my next series of projects, which is real estate. I had a 5 year plan to gain enough capital from stores like OG that I finally hit the milestone I set, one year earlier than I had planned. With the success of this store I can now move on to multi family homes, apartments, etc. However, I want to make sure this brand lands in the right hands because of how quick its already grown and the potential it has.

What's involved in running this business

The day to day is not complicated at all due to the fact of the powerful data that is behind this store. Simply hire V.A's to fulfill orders, do research on successful products, and run ads. All which CAN be outsourced. However, taking on a brand of this stature it would be well worth any time one puts in to it. A huge benefit of this business is that I have connected with a USA supplier so the short shipping times are ideal for the customers and keeps them happy.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

There are MANY things one can do to grow this store over the next five years. A few ideas I have in mind include using more influencers, the term 'OG' is VERY popular in the hip hop culture niche so immediately influencers are attracted to the brand. I would also start an affiliate program. With high ticket items on this store, it is very possible to give a share of sales to affiliates who will promote the brand. Another thing is to expand the advertising to ALL platforms. I made a killing solely off of Facebook, but there is huge opportunities in platforms like Youtube, Snapchat, Tik Tok, etc.

    Skills to have

Not necessarily, but it is always great to know what the competition is doing. Therefore you can emulate their ads, content, emails, etc. Stores like shopgld.com, aporro.com, thegoldgods.com, are all brands that OG can easily conquer if maintaining its current course.
