Consistent $6000/month Profit Baby and Kids Apparel Dropshipping Store

Back in 2017, when people went crazy for fidget spinners, I stumbled upon the concept of dropshipping and started my very first dropshipping store selling fidget spinners in the US and made around $10000 in profit (not revenue). I had learned a lot from the experience and the main learning has been "YOU WILL NOT BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE LONG TERM BY JUST SELLING TRENDING ITEMS". Eventually I closed down the store. I didn't want to sell it because I knew the future owner will not make any profit out of the store. That's when I started to brainstorm niche markets that have demand all round the year and that which keeps my store busy always.

I had the below criteria when I started this store.

  • The products shouldn't be seasonal
  • The products shouldn't be just a trend
  • The products should always have demand
  • The niche shouldn't be too broad or too narrow
  • Cost of most products should fall under $10
  • I should be able to find very good sellers in AliExpress
  • The products should have <20 days shipping time (e-packet shipping)

And I decided to sell "baby apparels and accessories". Sounds too simple. Right? But the store was an immense success as you can see from the Shopify revenue data below. Trends for "baby clothes" is on the rise (see attached screenshot). This is the right time to own this store and take this store to the next level.

Most of the sales are from Google AdWords shopping campaigns (willing to provide AdWords account too) and from Google organic traffic. All on page SEO has been done right and hence there is a huge potential when the store ages a bit more and more organic traffic starts flowing in. The brand has grown immensely and there are good number of searches for "brand_name baby clothes"

How can the future owner improve the business?

With only limited time, I could concentrate only on 1 product category. Products from several other categories are also added. Future owner can promote each of them effectively.

There's a total of 4000 email subscribers which include past customers as well as prospects. Around 20 people subscribe everyday to the list. Hence this list can be effectively used to bring in a lot of sales.

Facebook advertising hasn't been done extensively. Only remarketing has been done. With the wealth of information that the Facebook pixel already has, it's the right time to start advertising in Facebook.

Be aggressive! I couldn't. I'm running a digital marketing agency and have a consulting business too. Running these consumes most of my time and I couldn't spend much of time and effort on testing and scaling Facebook and other platforms.
