Why this business was started
Having previously run a large international shaving website, selling dozens of the world's leading brands - we wanted to create our own brand of products that combined style with premium quality.
The men's beauty and grooming market is on the rise globally. By 2024, the global male grooming market is estimated to be worth about 81.2 billion U.S. dollars. A large percentage of the market is dominated by the big multinationals however challenger shaving brands like Dollar Shave Club have entered and then sold for over $1bn. Barbarossa Brothers specialise in single blade razors and grooming products.

When we looked at the market, we felt that a lot of the brands were quite old fashioned and traditional in their approach, appealing to an older audience. We spotted a gap in the market to create a brand that specialised in quality, traditional shaving products but branded towards a young to middle aged audience appealing to beginners, shaving enthusiasts and barbers.
The reason of selling this business
Our primary business is a digital marketing agency which is the main revenue driver and focus. After working 40-50 hour weeks at the agency, it's becoming difficult to find the time to run the business whilst dedicating enough time to my wife and our two children which are both under 3 years.
We'd like the business to go to someone who has the skills and experience to take it to the next level and also happy to explore a partnership if a certain amount of time & responsibility was taken away.
What's involved in running this business
Currently it involves:
Ordering stock, liaising with our fulfilment warehouse (based in the UK), customer service (1-2 enquiries a day), updating the website and running the acquisition channels – PPC & Amazon. Social media management; Facebook, Instagram.

How to grow this business
I believe the key opportunities are as follows:
Consolidate the business into a larger business where you already have marketing and fulfilment overheads covered, this will help reduce costs considerably.
Reduce fulfilment costs, last year we ran quite high on costs as we sent everything via a tracked, next day service. In the last couple of months we've more than halved the fulfilment costs which will make a big difference to the profit over the next year.
Increasing the amount of suppliers and retail customers. We work with around 10 suppliers across the UK, US, Hong Kong, Sweden, Taiwan, Oman and Australia. With only 1 or 2 suppliers in each region and many countries untapped - this is clearly a big growth area.
Increasing direct sales across international markets, especially the US. We’ve recently launched Amazon FBA in the US and this has showed some positive early signs with roughly about 4x the traffic than the UK. There’s also the opportunity to launch international versions of the .com website to service multiple markets.
Social media represents a big opportunity to drive awareness, consideration and conversion through platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
