Why this business was started

I am passionate about endangered animals and spent literally months building this store. At the point I was going to fully launch the store I had some personal problems which meant I did not have the time or budget to commit to promotion. I have suggested on the website 10% of profits (not sales) are donated to the World Wildlife Fund but this can be stopped or you could simply chose your own animal charity/cause.

The reason of selling this business

I have to now fully prioritize another business I have- and it is frankly with deep regret I now need to sell this and ideally would like to find a buyer who is also genuinely passionate about saving endangered animals!

What's involved in running this business

It was only me and one freelancer who was a Shopify expert to set it up - now it is just about driving traffic but clearly it would help if there is natural empathy /connection with endangered animals. You need to know how to generate traffic, convert the traffic to sales, maintain customer relations - but the orders are fulfilled by Printful. As mentioned elsewhere it is vital to attract repeat customers and conduct customer research.

    How to grow this business

    The products naturally appeal to anybody who has an interest in endangered animals which is a good proportion of the population - but at the same time a very niche market which can very easily be identified through Facebook and other websites that focus on endangered animals. When I researched this before you can also definitely buy very large email lists of people who have donated to animal charities so they would be a natural good target. I would also suggest maybe doing some joint ventures with animal charity websites where they could promote this store to their database in return for a small percentage on sales. And of course Instagram which is very visual and image orientated - as are all the animals!

    Skills to have

    It is fully set up for fulfillment with the number one for printed goods company Printful so it is mainly just about driving traffic. A potential buyer will need to have skills to make this business work such as customer service skills, email marketing, traffic generation and knowledge of how to use the Shopify platform - like the widgets and apps!
