Why this business was started

I started this business in 2016, fully bootstrapped and having inventory. I was running influencer marketing campaigns across Instagram and Twitter at the time and the saw the huge potential of creating a brand that could be represented by influencers. For the first 1-2 years, I solely grew the business via Influencer marketing, whilst building the email list and collecting Facebook Pixel data. The last year or so, I focused more on the email marketing and Facebooks ads front, effectively scaling multiple Facebook ad campaigns.

The reason of selling this business

I simply do not have the time needed to further grow this brand at the moment, due to other business commitments. This brand deserves someone who is passionate about customer success and delivering quality products that come with meaning. Over the past 6 months to a year, the revenue has dropped significantly due to my lack of time: unable to test as many Facebook ads as well as unable to schedule promotional posts with influencers.

What's involved in running this business

The store has products that can be dropshipped but also products that can be held in inventory. The main premise of this store is that the products all have meanings behind them, which is the main selling point to customers. With each order, I would send their items (bracelets), a string pouch with Essence Beads logo and a black business card with the meaning of the bracelet printed on it. You will need to maintain the social media pages, customer emails and logistics but, overall it is very low maintenance compared to other types of stores.

Other details about profit: Profits are high since the product costs are very low. By increasing average order value, you can dramatically increase the profit margins too. This is something I did not focus on. Ad costs will be your biggest expense, since I mainly used influencer marketing, I was able to avail of cheap ad costs with them.

    How to grow this business

    I would focus on building a group of micro-influencers or brand ambassadors to promote the products. Although, you may have to send them free products (which will you cost you less than $10), the potential return greatly outweighs, building brand awareness for your brand.

    Past experience with running an ecommerce store and paid media acquisition such as Facebook ads or influencer marketing - these will be key to growth!
