Business Story

Why this business was started

I decided to start this fitness business as a hobby during quarantine. I'm a full time dental student, so I had a bunch of free time at home when COVID-19 was at its peak. This store went way beyond my expectations doing over $20,000 in sales in the last 2 months. I have scaled this business down and ended ad spends because I no longer have time to drop off packages at USPS everyday.

The reason of selling this business

It has been an extremely fun journey and seeing this store grow over time. However, clinics are open again and I want to focus on my professional career. I had a vision for this store and many great things planned. In order to execute these plans, it would take up too much time, and I am already in clinic most of the day. I want to focus on being a dentist first, and maybe I will start another store in the future after finishing school. I have stopped running ads on 8/15, which reflect the drop in profit and revenue.

What's involved in running this business

I designed this store from scratch, so there's not much to do in terms of that besides minor changes. I spent many hours making this store trusted by customers. I tried my best to make everything perfect. I planned to take more photos of my product, but that's about it. Most of the time involved in this business is spent fulfilling orders and replying to emails. I have great customer service for my customers, so I don't usually get complaints. My delivery time is fast as well (1-2 weeks), and my customers are very satisfied with the products

Other details about profit: Valued at $15810 by Shopify. We did on average 200 orders per month. We are at over 600 orders now. This store really started taking off last month with $9600 in sales. The pixel has started maturing and finding reliable customers. The ROAS for my campaigns have been 2.78 and 3.00. All of the performance was done without strong scaling. I never increased my daily ad budget to more than $150, so this store has a huge potential when buyer is ready to scale. I have scaled down and stopped ads on 8/15. This is why there is a drop in profit and revenue, but the store still did $4000 by mid august and was on track to end the month with another $10,000 in sales.

    Seller‘s Advice

    How to grow this business

I started this store with a focus of branding it. I have already built a presence on Instagram. I have been approached by NFL players and UFC fighters that are interested in sponsorship. Messages can be found on the store IG account. I also have business cards made and ready to be shipped with the products.

I have been in talks with supplier to get customized logo on the product and the carry case as well. I already have the pricing for the next shipment, and I'm sure this deal can be transferred to the buyer.

    Skills to have

The buyer should be basic skills needed for eCommerce, such as marketing, fulfilling orders, accounting, and good communication skills. Most of these tasks can be outsourced as well and done by someone else. It is very easy to hire someone to create advertisement contents, fulfill orders, and keeping track of the logs.

I'm actually a full time dental student that is finishing up dental school, and I'll be a dentist in a year and a half. I started this store for fun with the help of a good friend that has been doing eCommerce for 3 years now. He has a store that is generating $500k a year, and with his mentorship I was able to make this store successful as well.
