Why this business was started

As a gymnast mum, I felt there was a need for a gymnastics store which sold everything - clothing, gifts and equipment, all in one place. This was the first store in the niche to offer such a wide range of goods - most gymnastics stores specialise in either clothing or equipment and this is what made the store stand out head and shoulders above the rest.

The reason of selling this business

I have too many other commitments at the moment and need to offload a few stores to make room for new enterprises. I will be sad to see this baby go - it has been a great store which has grown into the UK's leading gymnastics superstore and the largest supplier of air tracks within this niche.

Everything on the website is drop-ship, all set up and ready to go.All products are sourced in the UK. You will need to fulfill orders, and most sales come from Google Shopping ads. A department -feel store for gymnastics fans - sells everything from leotards, hoodies, t shirts, gymnastics equipment to smaller gifts. Most of the items in the store are supplied from Ebay sellers so fulfillment is easy and quick , and the other suppliers are all very reliable suppliers, drop shipping everything quickly and reliably. The same concept could be taken into the USA quite easily, where there is a much bigger market for gymnastics and where the average income of gymnastics parents is a lot higher. The potential for expansion into the USA is huge - there are no other stores with this kind of department feel to it in the gymnastics world and so there is a lot of room for expansion and very little competition. Most sales are for birthdays or Christmas gifts and target audience is parents with gymnasts aged 6-10 for most items, but a few items are suitable for teens.

It would provide instant profits for anybody who takes it on - all the supply chains are in place for a truly hands off drop-shipping business, and even though we have not advertised or been involved with Facebook since the middle of December, we are still seeing sales of around $7000 per month since Christmas. The air tracks being sold here could easily top $200,000 in sales this year alone - already selling over $8000 since Christmas - this is an emerging market which is only getting bigger.

Update: Covid sales topped £42,000 in the first 2 weeks of lock-down, so this is a thriving niche and once which continues to grow, year on year - Olympic year will see sales massively increase as the number of kids taking up gymnastics will rise.

It gives a great year round profit, but is explosive at Christmas in particular - a lot more sales could be made by targeting kids birthdays etc and using the email list etc a lot more. Re-targeting has not even been explored here yet, so there's massive potential for improvement.

How can the future owner improve the business?

Offer different leotard brands , bundles do really well, so maybe offering equipment bundles etc. Make the store available in the USA where there is a much bigger audience - potentially a lot more profit could be made here. Air tracks have gone crazy this year and even in January we did over $7000 in sales for this item alone - with no marketing or ad spend, and no Facebook involvement. I envisage this could be a huge market in the USA and this store's potential is huge - there is nothing else like this store in the US or UK as gymnastics stores tend to have a very limited range of goods. Having a mixed store like this guarantees that people always buy more than they came for - the average purchaser of an air track (around $350 for the air track) usually adds around $50-100 of other items to the purchase. I am looking to hand this business over without too much hand holding, so I'm looking for a buyer who is already experienced in Shopify and drop shipping methods - if you are a complete beginner, this business may not be for you as I have very limited time for teaching / hand holding.

A lot of work has been put into this store - both within the store itself and on the Facebook page where regular competitions have built up a loyal following. The Facebook followers are loyal, and huge gymnastics fans. Products are sourced via drop-ship sellers, all of whom we have great relationships with, leotard suppliers and a few Chinese factories for the air tracks.

    How to grow this business

    I would consider importing the air tracks from china and keeping stock in the UK. I have all the contacts available to do this if you wish - there are much bigger profit margins to this plus you can brand the air tracks which bring in the most profit.

    Understanding Google Shopping Ads and Facebook Ads is recommended. Most sales come from Google Shopping Ads but I will give you access to a training course which will go through the basics and show you everything I use to advertise.
