We took an outdoor sport we're passionate about and grew up enjoying with friends and family, and we wanted to build a business around it. This store provides a variety of core and accessory products across a wide range of price points. It truly does feature something for everyone that is into this hobby. We currently sell within the U.S. only but you certainly could expand the geographical domain.
The reason of selling this business
We're in our third year of running this store and haven't seen the profits take off like we hoped and expected. We have put a ton of work (hundreds of hours) into it and want to try something new with our time, as we already have full-time demanding jobs. We have listed this at the recommended price that Shopify's valuation tool came up with.
What's involved in running this business
Checking for needed negative keywords on a weekly basis. Creating and sending email blasts (we have around 550 people on our email list, with more signing up every day), posting on Facebook (284 follows & 272 likes). Fulfilling orders (easy). The most amount of time is spent taking phone calls and emails from people with questions to help choose the best product for their needs. You could also write blog posts if interested (we have a blog on the site.)

Other details about profit:We have been profitable 10 of the last 28 months since we launched the store. Those months have been up to ~$3,200 in profit.
We've been overspending on ads to try to chase sales, but apart from ads this store is very cheap to run (just the Shopify fee and we also use TrustGuard for ~$30/mo.).

Seller‘s Advice
How to grow this business
Be more lean about ad spend. Hype up those products with stronger profit margin and limit those with lower margin. Do blog posts and podcast appearances in this hobby/sport's subject matter. Do more to piggyback on the popularity of this sport/hobby. One of our suppliers sells tons of other products we aren't selling so I would dig into those further.
Skills to have
It's easy to run. The biggest investment you'll benefit from is learning the products in this niche as customers do call and email looking for help choosing the right item for their needs. I'll give you a brain dump about them.

A Midwesterner by birth, I've lived around the country and now my wife and I live in the Rocky Mountain region where we enjoy the outdoors. We have learned a TON building and running this store, including skills every entrepreneur should have regardless of business type. This dropshipping store is in a niche I personally am passionate about (and our customers are SUPER passionate about) but we're ready to try a different business model besides dropshipping.
Exchange is the largest and fastest-growing marketplace for Shopify e-commerce stores
Verified listing data
The revenue and traffic data that you see on each listing is pulled directly from its Shopify account. This means that the data has been verified. Exchange reviews and monitors listings for thorough and accurate information.
Secure messaging platform
You will be able to communicate with sellers via a secure messaging platform. After you log in and request information from a listing, sellers are notified and have the ability to respond. When you are ready, you can make an offer.
Encrypted payment capture
Exchange and Escrow.com have partnered together to provide you with safe transactions that have bank encryption, making sure that payment is securely captured. Escrow.com ensures that its users pass verification checks before transactions can proceed.
Take time to inspect the business
Once you submit payment to Escrow.com and the payment has been secured, the funds are held until you confirm that all assets received are as negotiated. You can use the inspection period to ask the seller any extra questions about the business.
Safe store transfer
When the transaction is finalized, the dedicated migration team at Exchange will begin the process of making you the new owner of the store. Buyers and sellers will be notified via an email from the Exchange team once store transfers have been completed.
