Business Story

Why this business was started

Initially, we were only selling in Canada back in 2013 because our niche was still new to the market and no other website offered the option to purchase our products. The first year was a great success and I expanded to the US. That's where the revenue dramatically increased up to close 750k USD back in 2017.

The reason of selling this business

I want to move on to other projects where I need capital to invest. The website itself has a lot of potential, but I am not an ecommerce specialist. I was able to achieve the best I could considering my background and knowledge. One thing to note is that this website is split in 2 separate Shopify store. One for the US and for Canada since the inventory and taxes are different. They both come together since they are the same website/business. They also come with all their marketplace accounts (Amazon, BestBuy Marketplace and Newegg US). The profit and stats mentioned in this listing are in USD and include all sales channel even outside Shopify. Including the Canadian sales, marketplaces bring about 69% of the sale of the business. In the past, that number was much lower because of a higher number of orders coming through the website directly.

Unfortunately, since I stopped taking care of the website (back in Dec 2017), the revenue slowly decreased. There is still a lot of potential since it's still has a healthy organic traffic. The conversion rate needs to be improved and social media needs to be worked on again. I am confident I can fix them myself if I start learning more about SEO/SEM and ads, but I simply prefer to sell it at a lower price. It is not my area of expertise and it takes too much time to learn about these.
