Why this business was started

I wanted to find unique ribbons for my daughter's hair when she was little. It was hard to find different ribbons for different occasions. I am not a very crafty person so it was very interesting to discover all of the different uses for various ribbons. I started adding wired ribbons and wider ribbons for crafters and wreath makers. It has been a very fun experience. I wanted a side job that I could run from my home.

The reason of selling this business

My daughter is too old for bows and hair ribbons now and I am a full time rancher. With my daughter being involved with various activities and my being very busy in the ranch, I simply do not have the time to keep the business growing.

Customer service is one of the main points. Individuals will email with specific needs and you must be willing to help the best you can. I have searched for specific ribbons for people as well. Prepping and shipping quickly is a must. You need to know basic advertising skills with Google and Bing. I have the store set up in Facebook and Instagram as well. You must be able to keep your inventory up and find new items too.

Products are marked up 50% over cost.

    How to grow this business

    I would expand the store with more and better advertising. Utilize Facebook and Instagram. These advertising options have not been used to their potential. I have never sold locally. A point of sale option could expand the business as well. Possibly finding some new products to add to the site keeping it fresh and new.

    You need to be able to measure yardage. Customers do not want to be shorted when purchasing ribbons. Customer service is a must. Be able to respond to emails in a timely manner. Shipping needs to be speedy as well.
