There is a massive gap in the market for tooth cleaners which are affordable for the every day person to use. Dentist prices run into the hundreds and are just not accessible for most people. The cleaner does an excellent job of filling that gap. Also during the global pandemic most dentists are shut and so customers can’t go and get their teeth cleaned. Therefore the product has been extremely popular and continues to be.

Despite the fact that this product is selling extremely well, I have other personal responsibilities which have come up for me over the last couple of months and do not have the time I would like into this anymore.

Other details about profit: The company profit figures above are significantly understating our operation during our 2.2 months of 'live' business. Unfortunately Shopify's systems do not account for when a business is actually 'live' (i.e. selling to customers), versus when a business opens a Shopify account. The more accurate figures for Average Monthly Profit is c.$12,000 and Average Monthly Orders is c.1750. Our 'live' operations where for 2 / 2.2months. Whereas the lower figures which underestimate our figures show operations over 4 months (4 months is when we opened our Shopify account). Profit is really dependent upon the advertising and in particular social media advertising. This is the same for all e-commerce businesses. Profit margins can be extremely high if you have good quality advertisements and use the facebook ad manager well.

      I can't stress the importance of finding a good supplier for these e-commerce shops. I have an extremely good supplier for the products in China who speaks fluent english and is very personable. The supplier will also source other products for you if you find them elsewhere. I have tested many suppliers but this one is by far the best.

    How to grow this business

    I would split the next 5 years into short term (within a month), medium term (within 12 months) and longer term ( within 5 years).

    Short term - Bring in a Virtual Assistant in order to manage the back office customer service and orders system. These are very easy to pick-up on Fiver and would free the owner up to focus on the strategic operations of the business.

    Medium term - Introduce a subscription service for products in order to generate contractual return from customers. This is a potentially very lucrative avenue to pursue as it requires very minimal advertising outlays.

    Utilise influencer marketing as well as the current facebook marketing.

    Longer term - Keep the products fresh and innovative - continue to look for new products in the market along the same lines as the current product and new up-sell products in order to build on the current catalogue.

    Bring products into the biggest selling countries and build fulfilment warehouses in order to offer next day delivery.

    Build a very solid brand image and social media presence with the aim of scaling the company to something like Hi Smile.

    The new owner would not need any specific skills other than a passion for selling products through an e-commerce platform in order to make money.

    Everything can be learned on the job and I would suggest any owner look to outsource areas they do not feel comfortable with - so they can concentrate on managing the overall business. Outsourcing is very simple to do with Fiver.
