Why this business was started

We realised a gap in the market where alcohol sale was concerned. Realising that Londoner's with high disposable incomes all tend have a mutual understanding. Drinks! Following the cheeky Thursday night out, the weekend or the naughty Monday evening, there is never a time London is not consuming alcohol. With off licenses closing early and supermarkets inaccessible, we saw a great opportunity to cater to London's needs and deliver alcohol around the clock. Through doing so, we realised we can convenience our customers and provide a tailored delivery and gift service, profiting hugely through the unsocial hours of the night. Firstly and most importantly, the brand name. All branding including Logo's and domain name: www.getmedrinks.co.uk - currently hosted on Go Daddy with a renewal rate of £10 per year. It has been currently been renewed for 1 year until next September. Included in the branding, is all the stock images that we have paid for through companies like Shutterstock. This includes all stock pictures and various default alcohol related images. A total of £200.00 has been spent on stock images. Further to this, we recently collaborated with Nicolai Works, an international graphic designer to create a custom image currently on the home page. This was at a cost of £440.00, to which you will own all image rights. This was a custom image designed with myself personally and Nicolai who I sourced online through Social Media, tailored specifically to London and Alcohol Delivery with Get Me Drinks branded throughout. Get Me Drinks, the brand name was established in 2017, with deep consideration taken when coming up with the name. A few of these points include: -Search Engine Optimisation -Accurate Description/Relevance of Business Operations -Visual Format of Brand Name (eg lettering next to one another) -Audio Format, eg the flow of words off the tongue -Memorability and Durability We found the abbreviation of GMD and Get Me Drinks as a full 3 words to be the best solution and secured the domain name accordingly. We found that Get Me - is a young and relatable term towards our target market whilst using the word Drinks benefits us in terms of marketing laws as opposed to the term Alcohol - on which their are slight restrictions. We assumed that sticking with Drinks gives us more room for expansion in the future whilst Alcohol in the brand name could result in latter limitations. Included in the price is a fully functioning and ready to trade eCommerce website. This has been thoroughly designed with user friendliness the leading attribute where design was concerned. Using a simple and refreshing template, the website was designed and tailored to our needs IN-HOUSE, and so is specifically designed to function in an super convenient way to meet all needs required by this business. Initially, we built the eCommerce site on content management site Wordpress. We did this due to the attraction of complete flexibility and adjust-ability. We intergrated Woo Commerce as the platform to trade and this functioned well for us at the start. We integrated Stripe as our payment provider to process payments online. As we began to grow and pick up momentum, we found the back end of Woo to not meet our entire needs and as a result, we transferred everything over and completely re designed a modern looking website with Shopify acting as the platform. Shopify we found to be a lot more user friendly back end and thorough in terms of data/reports available to us. This was further benefited by the fact that we could continue using Stripe (which we really liked) as our payment provider, already integrated into the Shopify platform. Easily adjustable, with a superb back end mobile app to monitor orders and statistics on the go, I would whole heartedly recommend sticking with Shopify as it really is a revelation for a business such as this. The final deciding factor was the all inclusive factor of things such as SSL certificates and integrated payment providers which we can turn on and off as we please such as PayPal. Along with the fully established website, the purchase also includes the excellent reputation the company has built, with a 4.6 Star Rating on Google = Far higher than any competitor on the market. Further to this, you will also inherit an Instagram page with approximately 8,500 followers. https://www.instagram.com/getmedrinks/ This took ages to build whilst keeping the followers/following ratio respectable. Each posted image tends to get a huge response with regards to Likes and we continue to find ways to grow the presence of this page. The organic Search Engine Optimisation of the company is well under way, already at the top of Page 3 of Google in the space of 1 year, for terms such as Alcohol Delivery London - this really shows the direction we are taking this company and the potential to lead the market within a short space of time. This organic SEO is a direct result of carefully planned and strategic marketing approach taken from the very start with dividends now paying out in this respect. We obtain a handful of customers every week from our organic Google rating - free of charge. We anticipate this to grow significantly with continued activity within the Business through paid directed traffic and clever use of on site/page SEO. Get Me Drinks has already built a loyal customer base, with some customers ordering multiple times a week. The market is huge and growing with no real dominant players. There are some companies that are doing great in the market, but are far from claiming market leadership. We found that a lot of our customers have been and used other services and found the drivers either rude/intimidating or the organisation of the business not up to scratch with late deliveries. This is our bread and butter and our main source of customers. Our campaigns have been through vigorous tests and adjustments to ensure they operate in the best possible way. Working with David, the founder of AdLab and a professional friend, has allowed us to have expert guidance whilst developing our marketing campaigns. They have been built to allow room for flexibility and growth. With strict parameters as to the areas and target audience, our adverts show based on the campaigns you activate when it comes trade time. They are segmented into specific areas of London, split across 4 divisions. SW, NW, SE and NE. Should you wish to cover all of London, (2+ drivers recommended) then you would activate the 4 relevant campaigns. Alternatively should you wish to only cover a certain area of London on a certain night, (1+ drivers recommended) you activate the relevant campaign and like magic, your customers only come from those areas. You will be provided with a handover as to how the business operates on a day to day basis. How and where we purchase stocks and how we set these up with drivers for maximum efficiency. This will be thoroughly drafted by myself and will give you an in depth overview so you know how we worked the business from A-Z. With regards to payments from customers, we obtain these in 3 ways. Online (eCommerce), Cash and Card Terminal. You will receive the 3 handheld portable Bluetooth Operated Card Machines we use for customers that want to pay by card but place their order over the phone. These are approximately £79.00 each. Get Me Drinks is a young company with a huge future. We hadn't even got around to potential collaborations with companies such as Hungry House, Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats. We were making enough money from our own traffic and thus never actually engaged with these companies, our first step of significant growth. Between 18th October 2017 and 18th April 2018, the first 6 months of the companies life, we brought in revenue of £31,561.00 The company has since continued to grow steadily, tweaking all the time along the way to suit the current market. Our pricing is designed to maximise profitability, using nightclub pricing of drinks as the guide - rather than the small margins made by off licenses. We based our pricing on the factor of convenience, understanding that customers are willing to pay anything at the right time of night. As a result, we tend to double our money on most drinks, with the additional delivery charge covering all overheads including driver wages, petrol and marketing costs.

The reason of selling this business

Our highest demand for this service is through the night, usually between 12 am and 7 am. This was great being young, excited and flexible however, with a baby on the way my partner and I have decided that it would be best to work throughout the working day during normal hours.

What's involved in running this business

As an alcohol delivery company, the service is that of an instant buy and delivery. That means we need to be on hand to fulfil an hour at any time throughout the course of the day and night. The demand for the service during the day is not as strong as the night considering the opening hours of Off Licenses. Nonetheless there are customers that will pay for convenience even during the day. For the first 6 months, we operated this business with two people. One person back end managing orders and customer queries whilst the other in the field delivering bottles strategically. Coordinating logical delivery patterns is essential and so a good knowledge of London would be advantageous. All marketing is done in house and so a basic knowledge or understanding of paid advertising online would be very helpful. However as part of the sale, I am personally willing to do a handover to ensure the new owners of this great company are fully equipped to take the company to the next level.

How to grow this business

Over the next 5 years we would begin acquiring more drivers and expanding the areas we cover. We currently focus on inner London, we would look to go into Greater London and then Essex consecutively. We would also be looking to collaborate with UberEats, JustEat and Deliveroo to widen our market and delivery options. Given the success of these companies, we would only benefit from featuring our service on their sites. We would also venture into the gifts market, offering emergency gifts on a same day basis. Again allowing us to charge high profit margins.

Skills to have

The new owner should be willing to commit unsociable hours into this business. As a reward, there are high profit margins and massive room to dominate the market. A basic ability to monitor and tweak an already mastered marketing campaign would be very advantageous along with an eye for a bargain where stock acquisition is concerned cough ASDA cough. Other than this, a good understanding of London postal codes and travel distances between addresses will be very helpful when coordinating deliveries, in particular on weekends when its exceptionally busy.
