Why this business was started
I started this business because not so much of streetwear clothing itself, but because I was a fan of the streetwear culture. I found it easy to build a brand around streetwear since many of my interests aligned. Eventually, putting out clothing to people who thought it was dope became very satisfying as I was helping people find clothing in an industry where that’s typically hard to come by. I also wanted to build my brand differently and be transparent with customers and give back to people, and just overall distinguish myself from other brands not so much in terms of clothes but in how we represented ourselves.
The reason of selling this business
It’s very hard for me to let go of my first successful business however I know it’s the right thing to do. I have just started a very intensive coding Bootcamp that will require 70-80 hrs of week from me and I've been waiting to get into this field for a long time. Additionally I know I can’t do this business right by half assing it as I’ve already put less time to it recently to study and it’s been hard watching the growth of the store slow down because of necessity. I know that in the right hands, this store will continue to grow rapidly versus becoming stagnant after I’m done with my Bootcamp.
In addition, I'm not financially ready to help this store grow at this point. I just graduated college, had a low paying job, and will now be solely focused on my Bootcamp. In the hands of someone with a more stable job and financial cushion, this store will be your cash cow.
What's involved in running this business
Orders are fulfilled automatically when customers check out. The main duties are communicating with customers, and building the brand via advertising, social media, and collaborating with influencers. I have put way more work into my business than most others do because I care immensely my brand's reputation and customer satisfaction. I make it a point to get orders shipped on time, to reply to people swiftly, and to continue to improve every aspect. I didn’t have the money to really outsource some of these monotonous tasks, but if you do have the time, then the bulk of your work would just to be making the best ads, and maintaining a good relationship with the supplier, looking for new and exciting growth opportunities and ideas.

How to grow this business
After two months of running this store I already have big visions for this brand, and was really looking forward to building it and taking it to the next level. I have already moved to improve the service I offer by moving to shipping my clothing from the United States. Beyond that, I was planning on getting even lower prices from my supplier and was looking at other potential suppliers as well that would offer the brand variety that I could discuss with you. I was also beginning to grow my relationship with influencers and celebrities, so just getting the brand out there and in front of people’s faces is also something I would really look to do. I can introduce you to some of them I have good relationships with already (some pretty big names). Lastly, I had visions of being more than just a streetwear brand, and have more my brand be more of a destination for streetwear culture where topics can be discussed, where we would host events, work with different people, and continue donating to causes.
Skills to have
Contrary to popular belief, the new owner does not necessarily have to love or know a lot about streetwear. I was never a huge streetwear fanatic and did just fine running this store with general knowledge and the help of others and the internet. With that being said, basic photo editing skills, and knowing how to run ads effectively will really come into hand.
