Why this business was started

Both co-founders are Marketing Managers at one of the fastest and most successful startups in India - Unacademy. This personal project, HeyPoochie, was a side hustle which allowed us to learn everything about starting a digital business, specifically in the apparels segment which we are both fond of. We recognized that there is a market gap in the Indian the commerce segment where localized niches are not being targeted by businesses. We chose to go ahead with 'Dog Lovers' niche for its extremely high sentimental value that our potential target segment holds.

The reason of selling this business

Both of us, the co-founders, are moving on to better career opportunities which has left us unable to continue investing into this business now.

What's involved in running this business

Shopify allows easy integration with all major drop-shipping partners globally. The new owners would just have to exchange the existing partner with a preferred one (if selling globally). The product niche is already present in all developed and developing countries. People loved our products and I don't imagine they'll face any issues with demand. Shopping ads and Instagram ads have gotten us the maximum traffic. Basic knowledge about running such ads will be sufficient to continue running this business. We can as well help the new owners with is, as we are both Marketing Majors.

    How to grow this business

    Drop-shipping is a growing business in India with more privately help stores coming online in the last 2 years than the last 10 years combined before that period. We have picked a particularly attractive niche of customer base - young adults who love animals. The idea is to capitalize on the same segment and add more products - exclusive products - and market the brand to build consumer confidence and brand awareness.

    Skills to have

    A necessary to have is basics of digital marketing. The backend operations are fairly straight forward in this business model and we would love to help you understand the same. Good to have knowledge about current ecommerce trends and consumer behavior.
